Continuing from yesterday's post of birds at Nam Sang Wai, we see intermingled groups of birds at the river shore and then some flight action of pairs and individual birds and end up with some solitary birds. I love the views of these birds and the apparent freedom here, though I am quite unsure of what birds I captured. Some of these images are quite heavily cropped.

I am indicating the names of the birds as I perceive them to be, but am quite happy to be corrected should I get anything wrong.

Continuing from yesterday's post of birds at Nam S... (show quote)

Are you a closet bird watcher, Joe? I seem to remember you telling us, way back when, that birds are not particularly your thing. And all of a sudden you dazzle us with a full display of avian beauties. Brilliant! . . . .

The last two days are nice bird pictures, but since I see so many birds in Florida, I generally enjoy the other photos such as landscapes and food more. Even though I live close to many of these varieties of birds, I still struggle identifying them. Itโ€™s easier to remember the robins, cardinals, wrens and bluebirds from the north! Ah, my retraining isnโ€™t always going well.

Thanks Kip for your enthusiasm and your questions. No, I am definitely NOT a closet bird watcher and know practically nothing about birds, or how to photograph them. Also, don't have the right long lenses for that. But, here on this leisurely walk in rural Hong Kong, these birds practically begged me to be photographed, they were right beside our riverside walkway and I couldn't help but get involved! And I have to say that I very much enjoyed taking these photos of these beautiful birds in so many different poses and flight positions. I did post another bird sequence today and you will have to endure one more tomorrow, and that will then close that chapter in my photographic life.

Thanks Ellen, I guess unlike you, we are not particularly blessed with birds up here in our area, or at least I do not get them frequently in front of my lens, so to me they can still be exciting. You will have to endure two more days, today and tomorrow and then I will be back to some, hopefully, more enticing landscape photos.

Very good, Joe! Why wouldnโ€™t you switch for birding at least for time between the travels? I think youโ€™ll love it!

Thank you Eugene for your appreciation and kind thoughts. You are probably right, maybe I should try that. What holds me back is that the time factor: I am so far behind in my processing of images that I really should spend the time there. Posting this long series has taken much time away from working on the photos - I am hopeful to start working on my pictures from 2017 this year, besides all the traveling we have planned again, which is still first priority. Big question is: Why do we have to sleep - could achieve so much more without it!
