In the US, counting the various egrets and bitterns we have 12 different heron species. Around the world there are 84 different species. That looks like an immature Chinese Pond Heron but the colors look off in your photo so it’s hard to tell for certain.

Thank you SuperflyTNT for looking in on my travelogue and for providing the information. I am sure I am going to learn quite a bit from this and the next couple of posts that will present more birds. I assume for the immature Chinese Pond Heron, you are referring to the last two images. It is too bad that we cannot go back and make some adjustments to the texts in a post, once the 45 minutes grace period is over, so my misinformation is going to stay in these posts and I just hope that the viewers will se the corrections as they appear in texts like yours further down. Again, thank you for your information!

In the second photo the smaller egrets are snowy. Reddish egrets are, well, reddish. Except there’s a morph in that is only in the Tampa area that is white.

Thanks SuperflyTNT for this rectification - makes sense, I should have noticed that, now I am not quite sure where I ever picked up that "reddish" idea. Again - thanks for looking and contributing!

Excellent set Joe! I really liked the first three, the line ups are very enjoyable!
It is a small world sometimes and these bird shots tell that story. Other side of the world and yet these don't seem to look all that different!
Rob

Thanks Rob, I do enjoy these "line-ups" as well, it is great to see how many different species can live peacefully together, reminds me of a scene we saw at the Etosha National Park in Namibia, where on a great plane in the eastern section of the park hundreds, if not thousands of very different animals were all peacefully milling together.

Great set, Joe.
I believe that #10 is a Chinese Pond Heron. #9 is likely to be the same.
