I like to share photos via e-mail and I doubt there is a program in existence that can send a 40 megapixel photo. Some professionals may need the extra pixels. I don't.
If I have a bunch of files or large files to share with someone I just upload to a google drive or other cloud folder and send them the link to the folder. Large attachments > 10mb don't work for email and will usually get filtered.
Right now..the Fuji X-T5 is the best aspc camera for stills out there.
It's a very well rounded camera.
With Fujifilm and all other brands, it depends on the degree that you crop. If you like shooting with small, light lenses such as those in the X-series f2 lenses that weigh 7 ounces or less, then a 40mp sensor may be very useful if you usually make 16x20 or 20x30 enlargements. They would be nearly essential.
Thanks for your technical opinion of megapixels.

In the beginning of the great pixel race it was pointed out that the smaller the individual pixels get the smear/bloom from one to the next gets greater.

If printed, the printers are just so so good and may not display the MP difference... if they do can our eye perceive the difference. Old study on super audio cables, electronically no difference, audio no difference... unless the group was told that A is good cable and B is a super cable costing 10x the price. On a TV, the T-3,4, and 5 images are limited by the TV.
Consider the MP race is not needed and an old Fuji with 3 MP may be fine. If taken at high shutter speed then all the stabilizer features are not needed, even dynamic range differences can be software compensated.
In a recent study I did images from my historically wonderful, expensive, Kodak DC4800 3.1 MP were cleaned, sharpened, and MP enhanced by the Topaz AI Trio, De-noise AI, Sharpen AI, and Gigapixel AI. Once the magic has been performed, a huge photo print of quality is possible from a humble 3 MP beginning!!

Well, I might "upgrade" to the X-T5 if they made a version with all the improvements except the 40mp sensor. I assume there is a menu setting for image quality that goes along lines of fine and normal quality. Wonder how many mp the "normal" or "standard" would be? I could get the improvements without excessive file size (for me) if the normal was 25mp or less perhaps and I did all my work in that mode except for occasional distant objects that needed major cropping - where I could switch to fine mode. I could get the better autofocus but I doubt the IBIS would be much of an upgrade over my X-T4 (1/2 stop).
I have a nice little X-T30 with a couple of lenses, but I seldom use it. I was thinking of selling it, but it wouldn't earn me enough, and it would be gone forever.
I agree, My D200 went everywhere and I got several enlargements of 20x 30 and no problems.
I have an XT3 and am seriously considering the XT5 for stabilization and improved focusing.

Well, I'm upgrading my X-T3 and buying the X-T5, but not for the 40MP. Rather, for the AI focus and the extended battery life. To each his own.
With improved AF and increased IS youll very likely see the effect of 40MP.
Whether your style can benefit from it is yet to be determined.

See one and buy the other.
At my age, stabilization is my primary, and perhaps sole, reason to consider the XT5.
