By nowI am sure that you have all heard what Ian did to Southwest Florida. We were in a direct hit in a huge cat 4 hurricane. Many people will not have power orInternet until the first of the year. Sanabel island was basically reduced to a wasteland. One of the first things the Sanibel fire department dead when they were allowed back on the island was to remove over 200 EV vehicles for fear of fire or explosions. I don’t see that promoting on the main news media. Enjoy your EV car and make sure your fire insurance is up-to-date

And that’s one reason I’ll never get an EV automobile.

No, the Democrats are not i***ts for pushing for E Cars. The few fires after Ian, 4 reported, were aimed at the threat to as is life, Tesla, ... then comment was made about E-Cars in garages catching fire... but the news did not mention that it was a GM Bolt problem... implying it was Tesla... which it was not.

The Tesla battery system is sealed and so unless very damage salt water would not get in to cause problems. So the post here is doing a panic/h**e on E Cars and the 4 fires... never mentioning the ICE 150/day fires based on gasoline.

While I understand the are detailed t***h is distasteful to Republicans who live on fear and h**e of others and change ... Read if you dare:

When Internal Combustion Engines catch on fire, they are usually running, which means they are usually attended. When you consider how many ICE engines are operating in the United States on a daily basis, your statistics lose some of their sting. As someone who used to help his sons race RC cars and has seen small Li battery fires, I can tell you that they are a force to be reckoned with. We charged and stored our batteries in steel boxes because you could never be sure they wouldn't go up in flames. If I'm ever forced to rely on an EV as my only source of t***sportation, I guarantee I will never have it under roof.

As for EV Car batteries in the aftermath of a storm, I don't think waterproof is proof enough. Often items not only get flooded, they get banged around. Removing the EVs after the storm was a smart precaution.

What I don't understand is why vehicles (ICE or EV) weren't moved out of the danger zone prior to this storm hitting the West Coast. I guess the submerged ICE vehicles were removed as well. Any car, after being submerged in salt water, is totalled...

We had one day's notice Before the storm hit,
it was supposed to go up to Tampa.

While I do not have the articles at hand I have seen at least two news articles where Tesla vehicles caught fire and could not be extinguished until the fire department buried the vehicle. Maybe the Chevy Bolt had a problem but apparently so does Tesla and most likely any other electric vehicle.

But your comment seems not to address the present situation of no electric power means no charging batteries in electric vehicles. You also seem to neglect the present situation in California where electricity can be on and off for long periods of time because the electrical grid is not able to handle even every day electrical use by the millions of users. Throw in electric vehicles and the entire state can come to a stand still. Now please explain the best you can how electric vehicles are a blessing for mankind especially when there are years worth of natural fuels right beneath our feet except the STUPID Democrats don't want to use those fuels.

If it's me, and I'm in a long line of cars trying to get out of Florida for safe ground, I'm not in a stupid electric car, I'm in a vehicle with an internal combustion engine with spare gas in the back. If you've never experienced a mass-exodus in front of a hurricane you can not imagine it.

Tesla will not sell a car to a republican. Only to Democrats. That is their business model. Right Dennis?

Well, that is NOT right nor should it be. Companies are in the business to make money by selling products to everyone no matter the buyer's political alliance. But the products should be SAFE. Electric vehicles in general are not safe.

Conservatives don't fear change. Many like EVs. But they are not like you and the Dems turning it into a political issue and mandating the demise of f****l f**ls and ICEs by throwing out the baby with the bathwater.

I know, but the entire West Coast was predicted to be in danger of flooding a week in advance?

Must have been hard. In 1996 I spent a 3 weeks holiday in Tampa area. I still remember we visited Sanibel Island by ferry. Beautiful island. Watching the footage now makes me feel sad. What a massive destruction...
