Will this card fit in my Sony DSC-HX400v or do I need to buy another camera?...Julian
The "Memory Card" section of the PDF product manual for this camera says the camera has only been tested using 64GB SD cards (SD / SDHC / SDXC). It would seen the UHS-I SDXC 1TB SanDisk Extreme Pro would operate properly. Alas, that's a $270 gamble that seems rather silly to take. That's a postage-stamp sized value that is more than half the total value of the camera.
Does anyone realize just how many images the much smaller and inexpensive cards will hold? Even a 32GB card, shooting in JPEG, will hold 1300 images! How large a card does anyone need???
That would be over 2,500 photos on the card.
Why?

I don't as I empty my card after every day of shooting and no way do I get close to filling up a card of that size with raw images.

Just saying… I don’t, either. I clear out the card after I’ve uploaded each time. I can’t see any good reason why one needs a 1TB card.

Right idea, but check your math ...

I have maybe a dozen (8/16Gb) cards, if I were to fill one during the day, I'd pop in another.
Not sure if my camera could even use a 32Gb card. No need. Maybe the "not all the eggs in one basket" thing too.

Question?
What about the folks shooting movies?

What about them?
How long (minutes) can this Sony model record as one file? How many of those files go onto a 32GB card? onto a 1TB card? What is your experience with any of these cards and the same camera?

Right. Other than those. Precisely the main reason I don't use my DSLR for video, the file sizes are too huge for my purposes.

Can't. No basis for total file size of images stored because of camera, format, and if RAW/JPEG selected for the camera in question. It was a guesstimate.

Whatever it may
really be, I'll bet it's over 2,500.

I use a SanDisk 1 TB as a 'wallet drive' when I need files on the go... I purchased them (2) when they were in promotion for $99.99 last year. They are usually filled with PDFs, reading material and programs to install, just in case. It has never been filled more than 128 GB, thought.
In camera, I do what many do, I empty the drive when I am done. I would admit having a 128 GB and a 256 GB in each camera then again, I shoot with a D850 and D500, raw. I also use these cards as storage when I travel.

Are you shooting "War and Peace?" Someone needs a card that big or they wouldn't have made it, but I bet it's not you. 😄
