Photography is my day job. It's a great day job but sometimes it ain't very glamorous. Like today, I spent most of the day and the better partof the week photographing paving equipment. This was was steam roller day!. I came back covered in asphalt- and the smell...ugh!

So...I went to the office and sat down at the computer to do some quick edits and I needed to "escape" so I put on my headset and listened to a recording of Stravinsky's Firebird Suite. I used my headset becse the other nice folks I work with prefer rock and rap and consider Strinskyvy an acquired taste that they, as yet, have not acquired.

Well, I got inspired and this is what happened. What do y'all do to ESCAPE the routine?

Love your art and your story.

Doing what you love for work can be tricky. Sometimes it become drudgery.

I like it! And I assiduously follow all your posts, as they are most worthwhile - and interesting!!

Answering your question - sort of - I don't have any routine. I'm 94, so I guess my routine is sleeping (a lot); eating (when and what I want); following the HOG (spending way too much time, but it's interesting); teaching my wife (photography, including post processing; the computer; cooking; the intricacies of English; life - she's quite young; Classical music); motorcycle riding - I love; and whatever else strike my fancy at the moment! Not much of an answer, and I'm certain to have left some things out, but that's the best "off the top of my head"!

First I like the art! I see many things, flames dancing in the dark, fall leaves, dragons.

What do I do to escape? I went through a dark period in my prior to the pandemic. A lot of stress at home, to escape, I would grab my camera and go for a walk. Shoot some pics. It would get my mind off of “current events”. I credit photography with helping me get through that period, giving me focus, an escape, and keeping me sane. I have a felt grateful for and closer to my photography, ever since. Thankfully that stressful period is over, but I have continued to grab my camera and go for walks.

Great image! It captures the spirit of Stravinsky's Firebird wonderfully.

I have a great job too, although not in photography. To unwind, I take my Zeiss Batis 40mm lens on my Sony A7R III and just go for a long nature walk. No fussing with equipment, just pure enjoyment of creating images with one prime lens.

It is a beautiful, colorful art shot. I do not work, I am retired but when I want to "escape" the routine I listen to "Concierto de Aranjuez" of Rodrigo.

I live and work in the woods of NE PA. This is in my painting studio, and I work here every day. I had my studio built in 1989. It's sixty feet from my house. So Beethoven and friends, or whatever my choice, play to bear ears.

I like to Escape by doing something special with a very easy camera to use. Like my Sony HX99 pocket camera.
Just yesterday I took it to the Chinese Lantern Festival at the Cleveland Zoo. Great fun.
