There is great tech advice available online, and it covers virtually every area of interest. One thing turns me off, though - well, maybe a few things.

Why does a 30+ man have to wear his hat backwards? I don't take advice from people like that. That reminds me of a Woody Allen movie. They were digging a tunnel and wearing miner's helmets with a light on front. Woody wanted to be "cool," so he had his hat on backwards, with the light shining into the eyes of the guy behind him.

"Hey, guys! What's goin on?" Is this the best way to begin a video? It must be listed in a How-To manual because it's very common.

The pic below is from a site I clicked on today. The one below that is a classic idiot. The hat probably didn't come with a manual, but "real men" don't read the manual.

The only time I've had my hat on backwards is when our boat was moving fast.

There are times for reversing it - shooting (anything), for example. "Looking cool" is not a valid reason.

Translates to looking stupid.
Especially when one gets a sunburn on the forehead.

I wear a cap habitually. Keeps the sun out of my eyes, which is what it was designed for. When shooting the visor gets in the way so I wear it backwards (and I have over 30 for MANY years) because if I set it down somewhere I'll walk away and forget where I left it. In the car it's very useful for driving into the sun. When at a stoplight with the sun behind it I don't have to reach up for the car's visor, I just tilt my head. When the sun is off to the left side, I wear the hat sideways. Sometimes on the right side, but generally the car can block the sun on the right. If I were in a right-hand drive vehicle, that might not be the case.

I had two tractors that were right-hand drive. They were cultivating tractors and the offset driver position allowed one to look at the crops being cultivated directly below you. But there was no canopy on one of them and no visor on either so the hat was necessary. Of course my attention was on the ground so the sun was rarely a problem.

As for looking cool, that's not one of my priorities. I wasn't cool in High School and I'm not cool now. I'm a pragmatist. Someone once gave me a purple t-shirt. Really ugly. But I wore it out. I tell my wife never to trust my opinion on fashion things.

We have a saying here that you can tell the IQ (not image quality, but maybe also) of the wearer of a cap by the degree of the caps position. The further the shade turned to the back, the lower of the wearers IQ.

Edit. Phew! Just realised I have a cap on! That was real lucky as sometimes when taking pics my cap is back to front.

I never wear a hat, except maybe when it is very cold, or when I'm riding my Vespa (full face helmet). But I got to like the show "Major Crimes", and really liked Louis Provenza's bucket hat, so i bought one. I don't wear it either, but now we like the BBC show Vera, so I want one like she wears.

If your wearing a cap like that with the Sun behind you, I suppose it would stop your neck from getting sunburnt!

I wore mine backwards the whole day while a group of us walked the Yorkshire 3 peaks (U.K.), and was the butt of much ribaldry. That evening I was the only one without a sunburnt neck.

I normally give a second glance to hat on backwards - but the bloke at the game makes me wonder why I bother.

One real question may be why does a guy have to wear a baseball cap at all when shooting a video indoors? Another might be what kind of useful tech information can you glean from someone who does wear one backwards...indoors?
