Amen.

So You agree with Paul on His Mighty Chariot of Canon and the Fact that Nikon Users will always come out of the Woodwork when something negative is said about Nikon Cameras and Lenses. Well, I would put my cash on the Fact that Sony has and will put Canon in their place. Of course I shoot Nikon and why not? I have been a Nikon Shooter for approximately 47 years now. I have also shot Canon, which does produce nice Cameras and Lenses also. I will state right here and right now, All of the Cameras of today are better than Yesteryears Gear. It is called advances in Technology. I worked in a DEA Forensics Lab. for 26yrs., and guess which brand we used even when we switched over to Digital, and we used that prior to the General Public getting those Cameras in their hands. I think that people should not worry about one Company over the other as they all are very capable Camera Manufactures. So, if you think that you know who the Best in the West is, then reply with a Comment on that Company instead of giving it an Amen to someone's response. This brings back to mind a Thread was done On Nikon being done due to earnings. Those earnings were revised by Nikon to show that their losses were not as bad as the preliminary ones. The Z9 has been launched and my Friend who is a Rep. for Nikon has told me to just wait until they reveal their next QTR.Revenues. I do think that we are in a recession and that all Camera Producers will feel the pinch, but will adapt. I have learned One Great Point in Life, when a Person puts another Company or Rival Business down, it shows just how insecure that they are. We should be looking and hoping that all of these Producers make it or we could all be holding devices that will be no good.

I'm afraid your effirt is a lost cause. I started what was intended to be a clarification of what is and isn't part of "refurbishment" at Nikon. There was an almost complete inability of just about anyone to read and respond to what I'd written. Many even told me that it was important to only buy refurbs from the proper sources. I'm just about done trying to have an intelligent conversation here. Reading and thought comprehension levels simply won't suppirt it.

Discussions do tend to veer off course, lol! But I try to remember that folks are well-intended and mostly trying to be helpful. The sidebar arguments are quite another matter!

The only hesitation I have had about returning is the $400 deep discount promotion Nikon had going at the time I ordered it

.
So youve simply bought a battery ?

LOL, with me it's the raised frame around my cellphone which tends to deflect my finger over one key!

Ordered and just received a refurbished Z6II, but the battery was missing. When I notified Nikon of the missing part, the representative had me complete a form with the camera's serial number and description of the missing part to be returned. Thought I would get an acknowledgment pretty quickly that they were sending the battery but nothing yet, so I called back to be sure the claim form was received...and it was. I asked if the 14 days inspection time would be re-set based on when the battery was received and was told NO. The battery may take a few days to process, plus shipping time. That severely cuts down on my test period since a few days have already elapsed.

So, just a heads up that Nikon does not re-set the 14-day window for returning equipment even if a part was missing from the order they sent.

I have thought about your issue. So here is what I would have done while waiting for a Battery, First You did the right thing by asking them about the Inspection Time would be affected. But, if you planned on keeping the Z6II, then I would just paid B&H to ship another New Nikon Brand Battery and even paid for the Overnight delivery. I say this because I know How sticky the Offers are about what they consider to bad so sad to Customers like You and I. So, if You would have bought the New Nikon Battery then You could be out there shooting away. And then if you did not like the Z6II, you could just returned it and told them, To Bad, So Sad. A lot of these Companies do not use the integrity that they say that they possess. I once bought a Canon M1, I believe that was it, and everyone told me that it would make a good Kick and Abuse kind of device for doing Street Photography while visiting my Family in Queens N.Y.. Well, I got the Camera but no Lens, I called them immediately and kind of got the same treatment. But, knowing the Guys at B&H which was not far from where I would be, I simply bought the Lens from B&H and mind You I would have to look up to see if it was the M1 but I know that it was Canon. I finally got he new Lens and since they had not sent one out yet, I told them to give me a Great Deal on the Camera, in other words give me a Great discount on a different Lens and they did. I think at times that we just get lost in their Lists of Orders so much that even they are stepping on their own feet. I'm sorry if I came off in anyway like a sidebar on Your Post. You do have a good Camera though. We have a 1500 person's Bird Group here in Michigan and we all show each other New Cameras and Gear that we have received and this one fellow whipped out His New Z6II. The BIF's that he took were Outstanding. Please keep us here at UHH apprised of this situation after it has been resolved and ask them to knock a few bucks off on your Order.

An EL-15a is $17 on Amazon. You can always keep as a backup to the 15c they owe you. I would only add, if you are shooting a D5300 now and have used a D600 and D750 before, you will love the Z7II. You saved $400, don't let $17 keep you from a great deal on a great camera.

Certainly that is a justifiable point. My irritation is in how Nikon treats customers, to the point that I am not sure I want to remain loyal to Nikon--16 years, 9 cameras, and a LOT of lenses later. They wasted my time and money when I asked them to clean my D750. I explained that it was bought new from a Canadian authorized seller and provided a proof of purchase at THEIR request. Sent it in and then they returned it untouched because it was grey market?! They knew it before I sent it!! I suppose CS may be bad with all the companies since they all use the covid excuse for a short work-force...still...

P.S. I wanted Nikon to do the cleaning because warranty can be voided if not done by an authorized dealer. But I wasn't asking them to do the work UNDER warranty--only to PROTECT the warranty with my paying for the service. I've been doing my own cleaning for years and ended up doing it on the D750.

I wonder how much you paid for the Z6ii?

I've been watching it for half a year, maybe--always $1899 refurb'ed. This sale had it at $1499, plus the 24-200mm lens was $565. So I ended up a tad over $2000 for both. And both look immaculate.

Like how you strategize! The main attraction with the mirrorless for me is the ability to view exposure adjustments (before taking the shot) in the LCD or EVF...that, and in-body image stabilization. I miss the Exposure Bracketing button on the outside (like the D750). The rest I just have to get familiar with.

BTW, I have noticed Nikon neck straps on the cameras being used for the CSI shows.

Best of luck, whatever you decide. I've admired your landscape photos for some time. You have a great sense of composition!

Thanks so much, Mike. It is always a great morale booster to hear that one's efforts aren't in vain. I am always re-assessing the 'look' of my images as I uncover issues with monitor color accuracy and brightness, and discover new techniques for editing in LR.
