It was. He always does that, and is the master of sarcasm. Most people ignore him.

I can understand how you feel. However, personally I find the majority of Paul's responses helpful and technically accurate. He is a master!!

This is no laughing matter to me: To begin with, I am borderline computer illiterate. I can get my email, navigate Facebook, YouTube, and some of my favorite sites.
Over the years, my wife has spent several hundred dollars on computer editing programs for me, all of which were a total waste of money!
Somehow, I just didn't "get it". After my nephew, who is a computer whiz told my wife not to waste any more $$$ if I couldn't fathom Photoshop Elements. I finally found Picasa, which I have used for years with only minimal problems.
I would like to graduate to an editing program that will have a few more capabilities, be usable, but very simple. I would like to have other capability, like making composites, panoramics, straightening converging verticals and removing unwanted things from photos, in addition to the simple things...cropping, and adjusting color balance. So far, I don't haven't been able to make a folder on our computer.
O.K., I'd like some suggestions regarding simple ways to upgrade my computer skills, and easy to use editing programs.
Thanks!

I would agree with yssirk123 luminar Neo is very easy to edit with. But layers and doing composites are not easy and not intuitive. I would recommend On1. But you have to understand that using layers is something you have to learn and it is similar with any program including Adobe. Adobe is a complicated mess and I would not suggest any of their products elements and photoshop, from smart objects to adjustment layers, too complicated.

On1 is easier than Adobe but you still will have to learn.. a lot. Luminar Neo is even easier than On1 for editing, but layering and composite are going to be more difficult than On1. Corel is very much like Elements with easy mode and expert mode if you can't figure out Elements then pass on Corel.

Phone applications are pretty easy to edit but again as soon as you start talking composts and layering this where it becomes complex.

If you cannot make a folder in windows, I suggest you give up or continue using what you have now, Picasa I believe. All programs require folder and being able to store things in different folders. The program when being installed will often ask you which folder and if you don't understand folder structure, you are lost.

Macs use to try and hide folder structure from the user but I don't use it and I don't know if that has changed.
Macs make things easier (in my opinion but I have never used one) according to others but you pay a price for ignorance or refusal to learn, and that costs you money. Maybe throwing money at Mac might be an option.

My fear for you is if you cannot make a folder. How can you back up your PC. If you can't do that you are at risk of losing every picture you have ever taken.

I doubt any program that can do all the things you ask will be easy to learn. Take the time to work on the one of all your wife has purchased you feel most comfortable with and try again to learn it. If you need help, try YouTube or try with specifics here.

Rather than buying more software, give a list of what software you have already. You probably have what you need if you would just try instead of claiming an inability to read or watch, do and learn.

He may be a master but I have seen only sarcasm posts or mindless drivel pseudo intellectual quips and maybe 1 where he provides actual information. What good is that or what good is him being here? I see others starting to say they are tired of him so just making an observation and I have not been here that long. He has free speech, he can say what he wants.

But I think he thinks he is an assented being trying to sound intellectual, spouting off thing similar to "If you immediately know the candlelight is fire, the meal was cooked long ago."

So here is my try. "In one blink of your eyes you have missed seeing yet when the mind is enlightened, the spirit if freed and the body matters not." Yep, he has checked out.. his spirit is gone but his mouth babbles on... LOL

You know not whereof you speak. He is one of the most helpful contributors on UHH, supplying MUCH useful information for those willing to learn!!! Occasionally, one of his posts will come a little too close to home for some people!!!

Your opinion. He has not said anything useful or even witty. But I have not been here that long to say he has not ever helped. The posts I have read have been so short they are not helpful. Hitting close to home is not helping.

If you will peruse some of his many past posts, you will change your opinion. There are lots - and very informative - to see.

Here are some examples
"If your photos are not good enough, buy a new camera."
"When you know you need a mirrorless camera, you have the knowledge to succeed."
"Repeat after me: there are no dots in pixel-based images."
"You can save the most money by not buying equipment you don't need."

..." You probably have what you need if you would just try instead of claiming an inability to read or watch, do and learn."
He already knows what he has and has failed using it. He is looking for something easier. The guy may be old. And old saying. You cannot teach an old dog new tricks. But if you are old, computers are not intuitive because your brain when young never went through the process of learning a operating system. Some older people buy special phones because and apple or android standard os are too complicated for them. Something not understood by younger people.

Apparently, you have not followed his posts for very long. I appreciate (Paul Sager), his photography and knowledge. Perhaps we just differ in our opinions.

I don't appreciate his considering attitude to those who don't know as much as he does, maybe this is something new and he is becoming jaded.

I understand his comments are occasionally sarcastic. Mostly, I see them as humorous, but I understand not everyone agrees. I respect your opinion.

I suppose I could be unusual, but I was 94 last January, and am trying new software all the time - with no problems whatsoever! It's something I enjoy. For those who are technically challenged, YouTube can be of considerable assistance.

Re the quotes from Paul's postings - recognize the first two as irony! The latter three are excellent advice for anyone truly interested in learning!!! -- as is most of his instruction and/or advice. Many find it quite useful; if you don't, you are not required to read it!!!
