Please comment, opine, rage, troll, critique, and otherwise, really dig into this one.

engraving anything makes it very difficult to resale. Besides, my insurance covers me, that's what it's for.

Well this isn't the first instance of someone using their camera as a form of jewelry - I've seen more than a few folks over the years walking around with highly expensive gear and an obvious lack of knowledge of or interest in photography - the Leica hanging around their necks being there more to impress others than to actually take shots. This guy just took it to a new level.

Tell that to the person with the engraved Colt 1911, or the Winchester 70 or engraved sterling silver teapot.
A professionally engraved camera could be quite valuable.

I like one comment that was made. I've seen more creative artwork in high school bathrooms.

Be careful hanging out in high school bathrooms. That's frowned upon in some areas.

To identify myself as owner I put my name and email address in the EXIF area for owner and author. If I lose the camera (what is the chance of that?) it is there. If it is stolen.... Oh well!

Engrave? Never. What if I want to sell it?

Hey...why not...if that's your thing.

I do think the vibration could be a serious negative variable.
This might be much more suitable.

How to Turn a Camera into a Conversation Piece.
Cool idea. From the point of view of an artist who could/would actually create a design. I got the engraver, numerous old cameras, will have to practice on plastic.
I should work this out in a couple of years.

Perhaps he'll have trouble if he decides to sell it or trade it in. It looks a little cheap.

I really don't understand videos like this. There is absolutely Z*E*R*O point to it. Why in the heck would you do this to A*N*Y camera, cheap or not... And then to think anyone would be interested in how it shoots photos or videos? I don't get it...but I clicked on it, watched it and felt others should suffer along with me so I wouldn't be alone...LOL...

After reading your post, I went back and watched the video--the whole thing. Not sure why, but I did. Apparently I too have too much time on my hands.
