On a $15 camera such as the one in the video? Absolutely, why not. Obviously the images it produces will still be lousy, but at least the camera will be fun to look at. Years ago I painted up an inexpensive film camera with colorful psychedelic patterns. It looked awesome!

Thaz prolly true, but if I were doing an artworked camera I would start with a camera that had a longer future ahead.

It's more like a demo, practice piece not one of his masterwork.

The person at this link(https://www.diyphotography.net/make-your-camera-unique-and-one-of-a-kind-by-engraving-it-like-this-photographer/) engraved his camera. Would you?

Please comment, opine, rage, troll, critique, and otherwise, really dig into this one.

Really cool.
Never thought of that.
If I had engraving skills, I would be very tempted to do this as well.
Talk about a show stopper if you took a R3 and really made it yours.
Even add some inlay.
Like the idea.

Please do not engrave your camera. You will probably want to sell it or trade it in someday. Engraving will greatly reduce the value of the camera. One of the companies I work for Buys, Sells and Trades camera equipment and an engraved camera has to have covers replaced.

My cameras have factory serial numbers. Those are enough for me to insure them, and, identify them if stolen.

Engraving anything on the camera or lens would personalized it and reduce its value. Who would want to buy a camera with someone else’s name, rank or serial number on it?

But the camera in the video isn't worth anything to begin with.

There are “influencers” on all types of media doing stupid things to their gear, which some shallow minded people will follow and do stupid things to their gear.

I can understand the appeal, but that's not for me. Putting some color in those lines would add a nice effect.

This engraving has nothing to do with names etc.
It is enhancing the look of the camera.
And who gives a crap about resale. If the camera is actually used it will have far more scrapes and dings than any engraving and after 10 years has no real resale value anyway.
Only equipment collectors not shooters who trade in every month to brag about having the latest model worry about such nonsense.
If a camera is truly used it will show it.

You just lost a significant amount of value that the camera has by engraving anything on it. Had my name engraved on a camera one time and the value significantly was decreased when I went to trade it.

I like one comment that was made. I've seen more creative artwork in high school bathrooms.
I have made some of my cameras unique by putting skins on them. Looks a hell of lot better than this engraving!

Look at what some people do to their cell phones. Some I see are so gooped-up with gel paint that they don't even resemble phones. I guess people can do whatever they want with their posessions.

What is the purpose?
