The solution is to only buy the packages with 8 larger wieners instead of the ones with 10 smaller ones.
I'm sorry I clicked on the OP.

My understanding of what the OP says he is doing, is that he's copying image files to an SD card to use in a projector.
If you have a projector that reads SD cards, then that seems perfectly reasonable to me. What makes it a "bad idea"? I do the same thing for SD cards that I then use in a picture frame.
Did you read his actual proposal? Your logical approach is not what was actually attempted.

If he put it in a projector that is great. He put the SD card in his camera and connect his camera to the TV via HDMI and view the pictures on the TV. So obviously you didn't know what he did.

Well, in the post I see the word "projector" and don't see the words "TV", "HDMI". I'm basing my response on what the OP said. You apparently have ESP?

Thanks to BebuLamar, now I know the entire history. Sort of a spaghetti of threads.
Or, as per Rosanne Roseannadana, NEVERMIND!

Original post is kind of confusing... I didn't read where OP was attempting anything in camera... Slide projector with Sd input is interesting but modern day slide projectors are called " Big Screen TV ". Most have projector features which access pics from a memory stick in USB port.

You didn't see what he said about USB thum drive..

You have to use SD card any way what's the different with USB drives? They are just as compact as the SD cards and potentionally cheaper and you don't need the camera nor the HDMI cable. I was about to try what you said and I found I have to buy the cable. One doesn't come with the camera.
Cheaper? How do? I already have the SD cards, the camera, the cable, and the TV. I need nothing more. Why bother with the added expense, work and clutter of anything else?? If you use the USB technique and like it, that is fine. I just don't need it.

First of all I did not see ANY mention of THUMB drive on original post... My comment was ONLY that a big screen TV is the modern equiv. of a slide projector... AND, he never mentioned doing ANYTHING in the camera itself...

This is what he said originally
"Specifically, I want to take a new SD card and dedicate it to have all of my pics from various other SD's so I can hook up my camera to the TV and do the slide show thing. My difficulty is in moving old pics from old SD's from the computer files where they are stored to the new SD. When I make the moves everything seems OK until I put the SD into the camera, and I find anywhere from a few to none of the pictures there. Yet according to the computer they are there. So what's up here? It can be done, because I somehow or another got 2 folder fulls there, but I can't figure out how to reliably do this. Cmon Hoggers, help me with this! Thanks"
He wanted to use his camera as slide projector and he rejected the use of USB thumb drive plugged directly to the TV and insisted on using SD card in his camera.

THIS is his ORIGINAL post... It was a nice idea while it lasted. But Canon Tech Support gave a big ho-hum when I informed them of my discovery and my suggestion that they update their people NOT to pontificate about something being impossible when it quite obviously was possible. Ah, but who knows? Perhaps behind the scene he is being whipped with a wet noodle. But seriously, merging selected photos onto an SD devoted to use as input to a slide projector is simply too good an idea, and too simple a process, to dismiss out of hand.
Any subsequent postings by him were not in the original posting...
