Yes children, I have done what the Cognoscenti and Canon Tech Support said couldn't be done. Could not. Period. And, in retrospect, it wasn't that hard. Remember 10% inspiration and 90% perspiration? So true. To refresh those of you who dismissed me and my idea as crackpots, what I sought to do was to find a way of merging images from various old SD cards onto a new SD card, sort and organize them into folders, and this card would be dedicated to viewing my images on TV, using Canon's slide show feature and an HDMI cable. Sounded easy. Routine. Just follow whatever steps Canon had in the instruction manual. Well, you know the rest. But for those of you who care, this is how it needs to be done. 1. Gather together all of your old SD cards, look thru them and download images you are interested into your computer, and/or take the images already on your computer and organize them into COMPUTER folders as desired. Name the folders whatever you want. 2. (This is critical) These images MUST be named according to Canon's standard. (IMG_1234.JPG or .CR for raw). 3. Create CAMERA folders on your camera, one for each corresponding COMPUTER folder. 4. Either insert the new card into an SD slot on your computer or use a cable if you want to leave the card in the camera. 5. Using Copy and Paste or Drag and Drop, move the images in the Computer file over to the Camera file. Move the images IN the folder, not the folder itself. Now you should be ready to go. Caveats--- All of my images were taken either on a T3 or 77D from 2014-present. CHG_CANON says some models may not co-operate with each other.....and I have no idea about Nikon, Sony etc. Anyway I thought I would share this experience with those of you who might be interested. PS-When moving files from computer to camera, and displaying the contents of the camera file on the computer, everything may look fine. BUT these images will not be displayable by the camera unless the files are properly named, as per above. Have fun.

Well done! You wrote, "...using Canon's slide show feature and an HDMI cable." What part of that is unique, say compared to putting your images on a thumb drive for your TV?

When are you traveling to Oslo to receive your award? What will you do with all the money? Will they pay your way and provide motel?

The OP’s method reads like a Rube Goldberg solution to me.

Rube is famous because his solutions were so good!

You’ve got to send him at least to the right country, Sweden. Only the Peace Prize is given in Norway.

Wrong question. The first questions should have been ... What camera are you taking, what lenses will you take on the trip, etc, etc., etc,.
