Nice capture. Your first published image is one you will always remember! I've had hundreds of images published over 50 years, most of which I don't remember now. But I still can recall the thrill of my first photo published of a high school football game in the local paper. I was sophomore in high school and ended up doing lots of sports photos for the paper in the next few years. No guarantee of payment, unless they printed the photo, and then we got a whopping $4.00 per photo published!

Thanks Oldschool! Fun story about your published timeline and I'm not trying to be an ass but 50 years ago, for that first published image of yours, tells me $4.00 was not just chump change back then either!! I kid, but I am appreciative of your compliment and fun to hear about your induction to photographs being published!!

Hi Rob.
Yeah. Four dollars a photo was enough to keep me in darkroom supplies and film! We bought Tri-X film in 100 foot rolls and rolled our own to save money. It enabled me to learn photography by doing rather than going to school for it. I worked produce at the local grocery store to buy my first car (a '56 Chevy for $300) and have some spending cash on the side. I started out as a bagger at $1.85 an hour and thought I was rich!
