Thanks for all the input, Im not sure why I didnt zoom out to 600mm or adjust the shutter speed. I really know better but thanks.
Iso 2500, 516mm, f6.3, 1/3200
It looks like you have already been given the correct info. The ISO be damned, faster shutter speed; don't be afraid of 2000 or even 3000. Next time you visit those birds try to find a spot to stand that will catch the birds in a more open background; it's a wonder that the bird is in focus at all! You have a 600mm lens, use it! If you were concerned that you might not find the bird fast enough at 600mm, the only answer I have for that is practice, practice. Yes, you will lose some shots - welcome to the club. Just be sure to learn from the mistakes - that's what it's all about. You're doing fine and I'm sure in time you will post a real winner.

Id try a much faster shutter speed, this was 1/2000, apert 5.1, iso 400, 600mm
I think that Steve Perry recommends 1/3200 s. See his web site

That is huge crop even at the capabilities of the sensor on the 6D. Also, the camera is not noted as an "action" camera but you should be able to get some decent images, but you need to be closer. You should be able to shoot wide open as well and not worry about the DOF. Faster?, yes, for action. Lots of recommendations here, but even with a slow moving bird like this guy, I would be at minimum 1/2500. Also, you have lots of room to increase your iso. If I remember correctly the 6D is pretty good with noise. With a wide open lens, adjust your shutter speed up for the equivalent exposure. With a nest close by, there should be lots of opportunities. Another note, take a look at your white balance. Seems a bit yellow to me and an adjustment will improve the image. Good luck!
