After having traveled through the countryside, visited our first ancient town and settled into our hotel, we got our first cultural experience. On this first evening, after taking our dinner, we were treated to the interesting and beautifully rendered "Tibetan Dreamland Journey" show portraying ethnic Tibetan culture. It was presented at the Jiuzhai Paradise Grand Theatre located just a short, easily walkable distance from our hotel. In this and the following two posts, I will show some images from this production.

Luckily I took my Nikon D90 large camera with me to the show. There were no prohibitions of taking pictures and I took full advantage of that. This was probably the first time that I did a large-scale photo capture of a show and since I was quite a novice at this exercise, I was quite pleased with the overall captures. As I indicated in the introduction, at the time of this trip I was still shooting in the jpeg mode and performed very limited basic postprocessing only, using Picasa. Also, I took all these pictures hand-held, didn't even own a tripod at that time. So please do not expect overly glamorous captures. Looking at these pictures now, 8 years later with much more processing experience, I definitely see the possibility of improving many of these images. However, I vowed not to touch these photos and present them just as I originally finished them. I hope you will enjoy the images of this vibrant and colorful show which I will present over the next three days.
