It's a shame Roy Orbison passed away before all the albums by the Traveling Wilburys were finished.

Yes, he did indeed have a very unique voice. His range and style were unmistakable when heard.

His video and music on "Black & White" is special.
The Traveling Wilburys. My most favorite group of all in that era of true R&R.

About 60 years ago, I was listening to a radio (probably WLS in Chicago or KOMA in Okla City or KAAY in Little Rock) and heard Running Scared for the first time. I had been an Elvis fan for years, but responded immediately to “that” Orbison voice. Four years later in the summer of ‘65 (I think), some friends and I enjoyed him live at the iconic Arnold’s Park, Iowa Roof Garden. Standing about 10’ feet away from that incredible voice is a night I’ll never forget.
I have been a lifetime Roy Orbison fan, but I hadn't heard much of his music beyond the greatest hits. I have Apple Music which allows unlimited download of music albums, and I've been going back and getting older albums by musicians I like. For Roy, it was a treasure trove. There were two albums he recorded with the London Philharmonic Orchestra I hadn't heard and were very good. But maybe my favorite was an album he did of covers of Hank Williams songs. I was skeptical at first, but Roy did the songs in his style, and after all, lyrically they have very similar themes. "I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry" sounds like it could the the name of a Roy Orbison song.
A perfect performance in Watford near London in '76 or so, exactly as per the recordings, and the audience did not interrupt by clapping on the opening notes. A copycat show toured, saw it in Oxford in the '97 or so: a Canadian lookalike who was remarkably close, and very enjoyable.
I loved it "I'Ts all right!!"

All but one of the Traveling Wilburys are gone. Maybe they are having a jam session up above. I hunted and hunted for the Traveling Wilburys album #2 just to find out that there wasn't a number 2, just a #3 which of corse I have. Maybe they did that to honor Roy.

Gee Will, I did not realize he passed so long ago... Time sure flies doesn't it ? He had that unique special voice which will prob. never be repeated.... Maybe not the crowd fav, but I play " Leah" a LOT on my Black and White Cd....
MrBob, I too am a big fan of Roy Orbison. I named my '57 Chevy after his song "Blue Angel"
