He passed on this day in 1988. I don't there will be another voice like his.
Another great , gone before their time.
In 1988, Roy Orbison died from a cardiac arrest in Madison, Tennessee. He was 52

He was special indeed. We have a record through PBS that we treasure! Thank you for the remind!

With the sad life that he had, I don't know how he kept on.

First time I heard "Pretty Woman" was on my way to fish the Clark's Fork river near Missoula, MT... tune kept cycling through my head and became attached to the sky-blue glow of Stren's new monofilament fishing line;
Pretty fishin' line,
Glow for all to see,
Pretty fishin' line,
Catch a fish for me,
Pretty fishin' line,
I don't believe you'll scare the prey,
Nothing could ever break... away...
... Mercy...
"Ride Away" hit me hard in the late 60's... though I may not play it as often... stays with me still...
Thanks! for the reminder
Thanks for dusting off the memories for me.
I still remember the first time I heard him sing,
and it still makes me . . .

A voice that Elvis most admired.
He was one of the greats. We lost him too soon.
Roy not only had a unique voice, but an incredible range as well! The man was virtually pitch perfect in any key and the envy of many of his peers for his gift. He was indeed something special and I will always enjoy his music. Rest in peace Roy, your memory will go on and on.

His career was reignited with the Traveling Wilburys and his singles were again wanted as well as him performing at venues and the poor guy never got to see it through what a great voice and entertainer.
