Got it yesterday and used the heck out of it. Love it!

Glad to hear you like it. I have Giga Pixel, DeNoise and Sharpen as well as AI. I use DeNoise the most and usually have the most success with it. Some people expect miracles with these programs, which is beyond their capabilities. For some pictures, LR noise reduction actually works best. As they say with a car, your mileage may vary. For me, presets have pretty much eliminated my need to use AI. It came with the bundle I purchased. If you search the internet, you maybe able to find a discount coupon for Topaz products, usually 15% off.

I would be interested to understand if there is a reason why both should not always be used; with the caveat that Denoise is used first.

Sharpen is a strong program, IMO. It is for a file that has motion blur, slight out of focus, or camera shake. A regular file does not need that high degree of manipulation. But some files that are just a bit off, it can rescue. And it is a light noise reduction program. DeNoise is a program that can help a lot of files. Even with a slight degree of Noise, it can help. And it does a nice job of just some extra sharpening without going overboard if you put the sliders correctly, which sometimes mean backing off of the auto function. I find it helps to move the sliders around and look at results. Every file does not react the same, so it can be an adventure sometimes, and not always good. But for me, it helps a lot more files than it does not. I have a friend who takes every photo to DeNoise, he likes it so well. And he has some great shots. I very rarely use both on the same file. But once in a while, I do.

I use DeNoise, Sharpen and Gigapixel. Sharpen has saved a few shots, not enough to depend on but there were some surprises. Once I figured out GigaPixel, it has been great on saving some really aggressively cropped shots. I've been a big fan of the Clear option that was in some other Topaz product, then moved to DeNoise. They had a Black Friday sale for $77 to re-up all the products.

I also use DeNoise more than Sharpen. In DeNoise you can sharpen a bit. I find that if a picture is just a little soft, the sharpening in DeNoise works nicely. Sharpen sometimes overdoes it a bit, especially if the photo isn't that bad.

I use masking quite a bit with Sharpen to selectively just sharpen certain areas. I find that it can do some strange stuff with backgrounds.

I use DeNoise AI very often. I used the Clear setting, which takes care of noise and sharpens.

I have discount codes for all the Topaz products.
PM me if interested.

Love Topaz Denoise AI, a real staple for wildlife and higher-megapixel camera users to deal with noise. DXO Prime is also a good one. There is sharpening option within Topaz Denoise AI. Here a Sony A1, 50mp sensor image shot (full frame and a tight crop from the same image) made at ISO 1600, that was cleaned up nicely in Topaz Denoise AI without losing any detail or resolution. Sony A1, Sony 200-600mm lens, ISO 1600, 509 mm, f6.3, 1/2000 second. A Great White Egret bends it neck to reach and clean its feathers on the Caribbean island of Sint Maarten/St. Martin in late September.

Cheers

Wow, that is one SHARP photo! I’m impressed.
