I hand Topaz sharpen and love it. How much better is Topaz Denoise AI than the noise reducing qualities on Sharpen?

I use both Topaz DeNoise and Sharpen. I use DeNoise much more than Sharpen. They have a free 30 day trial on products. Try it on your own photos, it will be easy since you already have one product. That said, for a noisy photo, it is much better than Sharpen.

I too use DeNoise more than Sharpen. With an APS-C camera (D7200), I primarily need noise reduction - when I have to crop too much for wildlife or shoot at/above 1000 ASA in low light.

I did use both but as discussed yesterday it’s a crap shoot when they put out new versions, they are not creating apple silicon native versions. And now there are better solutions especially On1 NoNoise. Get a trial of it and see

It may depend on how much sharpening you need. I use LR to process m4/3 size raw files. Low light pix and highly cropped pix are the Achilles heel of this size sensor. DeNoise does a far better job than LR In this extreme situation. It seems to be the step beyond. If you are processing say FF files maybe it wouldn't be quite as useful. My bottom line : DeNoise is a necessary tool in my kit.

Thank you for the replies! I am trying to restore an extremely noisy/pixelated photo. It is low resolution. Dumb question of the day, is pixilation considered different and if so another to reduce /eliminate it? Topaz Sharpen Ai is no help with this and the blur is not even touched as well as the noise. Thinking seriously about purchasing Denoise.
Thanks as usual from UHH friends !!

Perhaps you should download a trial of Topaz Gigapixel to increase the resolution and hopefully reduce pixelation, then see how much noise you have. If still noisy, go back to the original, run the trial of DeNoise first, and then the trial of Gigapixel.

Thanks I will try that. I actually downloaded Topaz Denoise AI, It is fantastic, but does not help with low res pixilation.

You should try Gigapixel AI or Lightroom Super Resolution first thing even before cropping. Then use denoise Denoise

I have them both.... I shoot a ton of "Beer League" hockey leagues and I use AI Denoise on them. I do a batch process before I do anything else. The lighting really stinks at these ice rinks and Denoise does the trick. I shoot with a 6DMKII and 70-200 f/2.8 II and at an ISO 5000 you get noise for sure.
Get the trail package and see for yourself. Good luck and keep shooting!

The latest versions work on Apple’s M1 and the M1 processes the photos very fast. But as you mention, others have caught up or maybe surpassed Topaz. DXO Pure Raw may be better than Topaz as well. I haven’t decided which one I like better.

I do use both do denoise and sharpen. When it comes to taking the noise out of a photograph with the denoise is demonstrably better than sharpen. It has helped me on multiple occasions revive a good photograph with the problem of too much noise.

I already discussed in a previous post how I lost Topaz Denoise AI when I tried to update. The new update messed everything and I ended up loosing the AI version.
I am still using Denoise version 6.
