I think you believe correctly. It's a new kind of inflation.
Current thinking wants to remove police from traffic enforcement and concentrate on crime. The only time most law abiding citizens interact with the police is a traffic stop ... lot of people get k**led at traffic stops.

Actually I think that anything below $950 is considered a misdemeanor and with the liberal government that means absolutely nothing as far as penalty goes. Already a number of retail stores have closed in the San Francisco Bay area because they lose too much money due to l**ting.
