But you didn't buy a Canon.

Only you can decide if you're letting a mirror hold you back from the photographer you were meant to be."

CHG_CANON has written many times how much changing to mirrorless would change my life as well as my photography. So yesterday my Nikon Zfc arrived. I got up this morning, looked into the mirror, but it was the same old me. I took a picture but I couldn't see any difference in the quality or composition. No epiphany. What did I do wrong? :)

Many photographers think that getting new equipment will make them better as a photographer. IT WILL NOT. The only thing that will improve your images is EDUCATION.

OP: I just wanted a lighter piece of kit and decided to dip my toe into the mirror-less water.

Not this tired topic again. The question is settled, and I don't feel like arguing the point again. Switching to Sony mirrorless three years ago was a game changer for me. If it isn't for you, that is fine. If you don't want to switch that is fine also.

I'm glad it's settled. Now we need to settle whether or not we should make derogatory comments or just move on to the next topic. Any thoughts about this?

It would have been all WONDERFUL if you had just bought a CANON!

Thanks very much. I love the comparison to the D850.

Since I seldom use the rear screen when using my mirrorless cameras, I like the way it can be turned inside out.

It will never be totally settled. Just like RAW vs JPEG. Opinion and discussion are great. Keeps a lively discussion and opens or reopens the window for those who are undecided. At this time we should all understand that it is the final image that matters and there are different ways to achieve that. I shot an auto show the other evening with my 11pt AF D90 and the old Nikkor 24-120 3.5-5.6 using JPEG.
Many here would turn up their noses to this combination. The end result was super sharp images and fantastic colors. Every shot was a keeper for an investment used at under $300. Mirrorless? DSLR? To each his/her own. No bad gear choices. It’s the final result from the photographer that matters.

Sorry, Too much invested in Nikon. But I am redeemed because my son has Canon stuff. So, in this case, the sins of the father have not been visited upon the son.

If you thought it was click bait, why did you take the bait.

You should have ignored it, rather than bringing it to the top of the page by posting.

You forgot to take all the mirrors down in your house. Then you'll truly be mirrorless.

That would truly be a game changer, particularly when you put on your makeup and color coordinate your shoes and your dress!

I, for one, enjoy the banter, and the tongue-in-cheek, educated humor. The Zfc is an excellent choice, like a '61 Valiant with Tesla innards...

Haha! I was thinking “a Blaupunkpt in a Yugo” but that would be a tragic mistake. And, for the record, those who don’t enjoy the occasional banter might consider finding a different forum. 🙃😏
