Count me in as one of the two or three old folks. I'm buying it just for the looks. I have the Df and this new camera will match with it. Love retro looking cameras as a matter of fact I still have my very first camera I ever bought in 1981. Love the looks of my Chinon CE- 4S.

Me too. So that makes two of the 2 or 3 that Larry mentioned.
I hasten to add however, that I'm going to wait because during the chip shortage there is a greater possibility of getting a chip that would otherwise have been rejected by incoming inspection.

At a picnic this one fellow says to me,
"Are you still using one of those good ol' camera's."
When I told him what it is, the next week he bought one also.
Like mine, an Oly em10.

Please make no mistake. I'll be pleased as punch if everyone here buys one of these cameras, and I'm sure Nikon will be as well. It's just that we aren't the target market. I personally do not plan to buy one. There would be much better ways for me to accomplish the same things with other Nikon products. And neither pink nor tan is a particularly good color for me.

Nikons recent statement,

"The “Z fc 28mm f / 2.8 Special Edition Kit,” which is scheduled to be released in late July 2021, has received a large number of reservations beyond expectations, and due to the delay in parts supply, the supply amount is sufficient for release. Is not expected to be available. Therefore, we have decided to postpone the release. We will inform you of the release date as soon as it is confirmed.

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused to customers who are waiting for our products. We will do our utmost to deliver the product as soon as possible, and we appreciate your understanding."

Or to put it another way part shortages and manufacturing capacity shortages.

Petapixel says "Since Nikon was still fulfilling Nikon Z7 II pre-orders from last year through the early months of 2021 and the camera is still not available in stock, it is entirely likely that a wait of six months or more is not out of the question."

Maybe larrys right some of us can't wait that long :)
From all the reviews I've seen I know it would be a pleasure to use that camera, and I'm biased towards other makes.

Any way this is not a good thing for Nikon. If you have people want to buy your products but you can't make them fast enough they may spend their money some where else.

Last time I heard, there're no computer chips in the Nikon ES-2 Kit. Yet every major dealer I know is out of stock on that overpriced item also. Go figgah!

B&H says "In Stock", Amazon says "Get it Tuesday", Adorama says "In Stock".

Go figure?

Is anyone buying the Zfc to take pictures or are you buying to sit on a shelf. No, I will stick with my D800E.

I'm buying it to take pictures. It is only 40% of the weight and less than half the size of my Canon 7D Mark II. The 16-50mm kit lens is quite decent and adds very little additional weight. Most of the images I take tend to be in that focal range. It is small and light enough to take with me everywhere. It has had very good reviews, the price is very reasonable, and I love the retro aesthetic. I shoot almost 100% in manual mode and the dials appeal to me. It should be arriving from B&H tomorrow.

Larry sometimes makes 'statements' with nothing to back them up. He often tells us what 'most' people will do. Many of his threads should start with,"This is my opinion, with no basis in fact".

But, in fairness to Larry, apparently Nikon had no idea how popular this camera will be. My guess is that it will be more interesting to us old timers. The younger set "might" be more interested in advancements in cell phone cameras.

Time will tell.
Larry sometimes makes 'statements' with nothing to... (show quote)

I'm not sure if it is accurate to suggest younger photographers might not be interested. I just bought one, and my son who is 32 says he wants one as well.

I am sure whomever buys the Zfc would use it a lot. They would bring it with them more often than other cameras.

Yes. Completely agree. I bought one, in part, for that purpose.

It is in stock as either the body only or as a kit with the 16-50mm lens. The 28mm f/2.8 kit version appears to be the issue at this point. That lens is backordered. I bought the 16-50 mm kit version from B&H yesterday. They included expedited shipping and I will have the camera here in New Jersey tomorrow.
