Another vote for the TG -6. I take it on my kayak all the time and also on a powerboat and never worry about the water splashing or bumpy ride. I highly recommend the Tg6

No question, the Olympus TG-6 is the way to go. 12 megapixels is plenty for anything short of heavily cropped paper prints.

I don't know of any camera that I can be sure that would survive a few feet drop.

Hello,
I'm looking to buy a tough camera, something that I can take with me anywhere, doesn't matter if I drop it or it gets wet etc. I have a lumix at the moment and it's been great for several years, even after my wife cooked it by leaving it by leaving it on top of the wood stove. I'd quite happily purchase another one of these but they don't seem to have advanced at all since my last purchase and so I'm wanting good recommendations please. I read in reviews that Olympus are regarded highly however, they only have a 12 megapixel sensor, that seems rather low to me, any ideas welcome please.
Thanks.... Phil

Remember the days when 6 was the be all? The images captured back then haven’t changed, they’re still good. I have a Tg6 and am very happy with it. It is worry free. The image quality is excellent. It’s the camera I take for kayaking hiking on rough terrain.

I carry my TG-6 (previously had a TG-4, passed to a friend) as a backup camera. I have a small hard case for it, but it can also fit in a large pocket. Perfect when it starts to pour, or when I want to go out to dinner and not carry a camera bag. Yes, it has its limits, but I like that it shoots RAW. I bought the Olympus LB-T01 (ridiculously overpriced), but just picked up a knockoff JJC cap for my friend's TG-4 (thanks to another 'Hog's post on a separate thread).

Lowepro Santiago DV 35 Camcorder Bag - Hard Shell Case For Camcorder and Action Video Cameras, Model: LP36372 (on Amazon, just make sure it's the LP36372)

The TG-6 is all the OP needs to know.

All I can say is the TG series are great cameras; I have had 2 of them so far. I have had others but found the TG the best.

I have the Olympus Tough TG-5. It has been truly tough and durable. Takes wonderful pictures. It will automatically do focus stacking and macro. When I want to do a real close up, I use it in place of my Fuji X-T30.

I stepped off of a park bench and fell to my back a few years ago with my Nikon D7200 under me. Warped the lens hood a bit. My back is still sore.

Remember Olympus has a micro 4/3 sensor so the megapixels may not be as large but it is almost indescribable. The pictures are awesome. I enjoy mine.

The TG-7 will be out soon. Yes, it will be more than likely a 12mp sensor but a newer design for lower light/noise. The lens will change to a 24-200 range (35mm terms) and will likely be f1.8. If you do not have time to wait, there is always the TG-6 at a good price. We are up to six TG-6s at work now because they produce sharp photos, can do macro/micro (×11), and are relatively easy to use for even a beginner. Even video is easy-to-use for recording lifts and moves. They are replacing the higher end Canons and Nikons for most of our uses. Accessories that we find useful are the ring flash adapter and the ring diffusion adapter. There are other tough cameras available, but there is a reason that the TG-6 is the best selling one on the market right now.

I wouldn’t be concerned about the 12mp limitation of the Olympus TG-6 camera, unless you’re going to make very large wall prints. It’s a very impressive camera. It shoots RAW as well, and can shoot in macro mode, having an automatic focus bracketing feature.
My suggestion would be to buy it from B&H, Adorama, etc., with a 30 day return policy, and try it out.

Amen.

And furthermore I can’t think of ANY thing that I can be sure of (except D&T).

That camera is waaaaaay too small to be m4/3 or even one inch. Allowing for the bulk of its armor, there’s most likely a 1/2 inch pocket camera lurking within.
