You are 100% right. Olympus Corporation is no longer making the cameras on their own. JIP is not make cameras either. Only OMDS is making cameras. Where did all the people and assets building cameras come from. Olympus Corperation. Where are all the management decisions coming from? Mainly JIP. Where was the vision of what was the future for Olympus cameras. JIP? Absolutely not! The people at Olympus had the vision, but their management did not run the company well and committed fraud. JIP saw a good price for a company to be able to get into the camera business. But the vision of the future comes from the people from Olympus. JIP needed that vision and could not buy it outright. Olympus was not willing to sell the name. My best guess is, if one would dig through the papers of incorporation, one would find that if Olympus does not have a say, the trade names of "Olympus " and "Zuiko" go away. Obviously, if true, JIP does not feel comfortable moving forward without the trade names (and in my opinion, rightfully so). This may mean that Olympus has a little more say than the 10% implies. Just not so much from the financial side of the company. My best guess is that JIP and Olympus are joined at the "hip" 90%/10% for at least 5 to 10 years. With 33mp sensors coming for both Panasonic and Olympus (OMDS), I suspect Olympus will be a survivor of the market (as well as Panasonic).
