Glad to see you using lower case now, it is a big person that when called on something checks it out and conforms to the general standard whether or not you agree with it. Well done!

Personally, I think it is pure stupidity to get your panties in a bunch over people using caps when sending a post. People just need something to bitch about, and bitching about caps is just one of those stupid ways. Thus, the world we now live in! Personally, your use of caps DID NOT OFFEND ME!!!!

Then how do you write for vocal emphasis?

Nobody wants to see debates over the rules. It would probably take more space than a raw vs jpg thread.

However, you can send a private message to Admin.

Just click on the 'private messages' button above and put Admin in the Compose new message to: box.

I have just one question, who is admin?

But notice how composition works by your own example.
Your words are sufficient to get your message across.
You did use some all caps for EMPHASIS...which is the logical way to communicate non verbally.
All caps are the visual 'raising your voice' when writing.

So all caps...is yelling.

Well said, and straight to the point. If everything is emphasized, then nothing is emphasized. (also, it's easier to read proper typing)

Function? The owner of the forum.
Name? Dunno.

Name, I understand their function. Everyone should know who the sheriff is.

I agree…uppercase is fine, whatever…as are the topic police rules. Just ignore messages in upper case or that don’t seem relevant to the topic if it pleases you…or complain privately to the poster or admin…but starting a flame war over it wastes more of everybody’s time, generates anger and dissent, and accomplishes nothing. Have a sip of your coffee, beer, tea, water, or dust beverage as appropriate instead and move along.

Except in the attic of course…all that dissent, anger, hatred, and righteous indignation is practically required there.

So, after receiving so many negative remarks regarding my use of caps and the subsequent advice that the forum rules forbid their use, I decided to read the rules. Man oh man, I think the Declaration of Independence is shorter.
(I checked, it is). Some rules seem very reasonable, some don't. The fact that one cannot reply to the page of rules seems like one of the unreasonable rules.
If I'm sitting in front of my computer, in my underwear while I'm writing this, I've probably broken at least 10 rules already.
So, after receiving so many negative remarks regar... (show quote)

Since the written word contains no inflections or vocal sounds, one will infer if someone is offended, compared to simply writing a statement. (Unless the writes states that "I am pissed...".)
Depending on how what words are used, one may never know.

Now, am I upset or just making statements.....

From your writing I'll surmise you are upset.
But maybe you're simply making a statement, emphatically.

Perception.

If everyone always obeyed the rules we'd still be living in caves.

What rules were in effect when people were living in caves?
