Haha, well, I am a forum veteran not here but other places. When joining somewhere new I'm past the "post slowly and carefully like a newbie" and don't rock the ship. I kinda get right into it and expect a response like yours to possibly come.
I'm making a suggesting here and sure, it may be taken as a demand if coming from a newbie. It's not my intent to demand anything. My suggestion is to aid other newbies such as myself. It's a newbie that will likely start a thread like this because the regulars already know each other.
I hold nothing against you but heck, yeah, will probably remember your avatar now.
Hopefully we can have further interaction in the future.
Haha, well, I am a forum veteran not here but othe... (

The reason I said it was funny is that this forum has been around long enough that it acquires many new members with many new ideas. Yours and other 'new' suggestions come up all the time, but nothing ever comes of them. I think it's mostly because they aren't new. Many of the members here still don't know to post photos in the 'Photo Gallery'. The solution ... Admin moves them to the right place. UHH is kind of like the wild west of photo forums with a lot of wild horses. Efforts to tame them seem to be an exercise in futility!
There is nothing wrong with your suggestion, but you will find you have more fun if you go with the flow.
Be well

And how do we go about it?
Be careful not to use a political avatar, though, however tangential it might be to politics, or you might get your hand slapped.

Are you asking how to add one?
If that's the case, just go to "My Profile" at the top of the page and click it.
When you are on your profile page scroll down and you will see "Avatar (profile picture)"
Click "Choose File" and locate the photo you wish to use from your PC.
Finally, click "Upload Avatar" and you are done.
If you have any issues or need further instructions let me know.
Thanks, I’m little bit above dinosaur level as for computers goes

No worries. I don't know if there are any restrictions to the size of the file you upload. If you have any issues post back with whatever error the site gives you.
I’d rather members have their actual name in their user ID. I find it weird to address “KnobbyKnees” as “Knobby” in my “great shots, Knobby” reply to their posting.

Note that per the UHH rules, you are not allowed to have an avatar if your browser has an ad blocker.
I have an Ad Blocker and a Avatar and have had no problems.

Some folks put their first name in the signature section at the bottom of the post.
You can still keep your user name.

True, but the vast majority don't do so.

I would like to use an avatar but it requires that I disable my ad blocker and I'm not doing that.

You can exclude this site from your ad blocker or use another browser for a few days just for this site. The ads here aren't too bad.
