First of all, the lens is the key to great images, the body, not so much.
I have owned the Nikon 200-500 5.6 since in was introduced, I am a member of Nikon Professional Services and got the lens the month it came out. I have shot it off the D7200, D500, D5, D4s, and D850. I have never been disappointed in it's performance. And neither will you. Below is just a sample of what you can expect from this lens.

I’ll second that .. I use the 200-500 on my D850 and my 7200 ... while my new 70-200 2.8 FL seems to get me the most extreme clarity I have ever gotten out of a lens ... the reach and overall cost makes the 200-500 a superb buy .... and enough clarity to capture the beautiful images you have posted here ..

I have the 200-500 on my D5300. (I have the D5100, 5200 & 5300) It is quite long and heavy, but the camera adds little to the weight. Still it takes excellent photos if you aim, expose and focus correctly. (just like ANY other photo) I think if you want to put this lens on a great big Nikon, you're adding weight you don't want to carry. I usually place this combination on a tripod, but if I want to carry it, I have a handle that attaches to the L bracket and helps with complete motion.
