The D500 is a professional piece of kit... the others you listed are prosumer products...

Here is what Nikon cameras REAL photographers are currently using...

If this is the current level of your photographic expertise moosus maybe rethink photography as a vocation...

Wow, now aren't you a breath of fresh air. Sorry, not everyone can measure up to your standards, including me.....and I really don't want to measure up to your standards.

What a piece of work. A little bit of an overreaction.

I have the D500 D850 D4s and D3s and yet to see the hype of getting rid of them to go mirrorless. I have been watching the progress on all these cameras and yes they sound good on paper. I go by the end result and that is my picture it produces. All 4 of my cameras have fast fps deep buffers and great af systems. I have grips on 850 and 500 with a D5 battery in the grip for faster fps. Any one of these will produce incredible image quality anyone would accept. Its funny how 4 years ago people would love to have a D850 but now its just a camera. It is the lens I use on these cameras. My cameras will do sports wildlife portraits or whatever needed. It would have to be so much more than just saying its mirrorless for me to sell all my gear to start over again. Im at a happy place with what I have right now. All great to those that sold and went mirrorless, my hat is off too you but for me just not yet.

There are a number of D500s for sale on ebay. The pricing is staying fairly firm above $1,000 plus. I know, because I would pick up a second one for the right price. The D500 is regarded by some as the best wildlife camera out there, so no surprise that supply might be limited.

When you have confidence, you can have a lot of fun. And when you have a mirrorless camera, you can do amazing things.

Your question was totally appropriate. Too bad you got a snarky response right out of the gate!

Since I’d like to upgrade, too, I am following this thread to see what advice is forthcoming. I am thinking D500, but am considering other options, too. Not sure if going mirrorless is for me, though. And, cost is an issue, too.

Same here. Thinking of adding a D500 to the kit with the F mount lens I already own. Sure a Canon R5 would be nice but... Nikon still sells a lot of D500 cameras so I imagine they would be providing service for them for some time coming.

I often read your responses. I'm 71, retired so I don't have the bucks at his stage to go the mirrorless route. I've got my 7200 and several Nikon lenses, which I've invested a few thousand in and I'm not a prof., as T 905 has pointed out. So I have been watching for a reasonably priced, used D500. That's all. I watch B&H and other sites Hoggers suggest but I don't trust UPS or Fed Ex. And my brick and mortar has, like everyone else, virtually no used 500s. But, thanks to others hoggers I did get an answer to my troll, er, question.

When he says that about mirrorless, he is joking around.

Why is there so many used D750s, and a lot of 850s as well, available for resale and yet so few D500s listed. Did the Z series adversely impact the 750/850 market?

Probably just people changing to a new camera.

You are incorrect! Nikon lists the D500 and D850 in the same catagory(advanced photographer models) not professional!

Nikon does lots of weird things in their sales materials...some is very misleading. Some is actually harmful to them, like the pigeonholing of the D500 that they have promoted for years. They are a bunch of nerds trying to be cheerleaders. When have you known that to work very well?

There are three responses to a great image: yes, no, or they must have used a mirrorless camera.
