Have any of you notice that if you had both eyes done that you now have crosshair with both eyes? When the doctors got done with my eyes I have a crosshair. There not exactly 90* to each other. Every time I see headlights coming towards me I see what appears to be cross hairs. Any body else have this wonderful result?

does it remind you of using a star filter?

Not sure what crosshairs might be but when I first had mine done I had halos around lights at night. Same thing happened with my hard contact lenses. This is because my pupils get larger than my lenses at night. I don’t notice it anymore and the halos seem to be gone. If your driving at night, you can try night glasses. I would go back to the doctor and tell them. Sounds odd to me.

I had both of my eye done this month, I visited my doctor yesterday for a second post op. check-up, every thing were up to the expectation, and I have 20/25, I told him my close vision is great but my left eye on the distant side is having a doubt vision, he said I will/may need the correcting optic for the far side. My implanted lenses were for close vision. Before the surgery, I used bifocal lenses. I will see how this will be when the coming visit next month! anyway, I am happy with the result, now everything is in good contrast and great color, the haze vision is gone and no eye glasses, I have been driving several time already after the surgery, no problem!

At age 84, I had implants done a year ago. Had the multiple ones and don’t need glasses for reading or distance. After wearing contacts for 60 years, the cost was well worth it.

I had both eyes done in separate surgeries about 7 years ago. It was like when Dorothy opened the door after her house crashes and everything goes from sepia to color.

My eyes were really bad & doc didn't recommend multifocal. My wife has multifocal and is completely satisfied.

I use readers and a glasses with a moderate correction for driving at night as my depth of field isn't good in low light.

One other thing I've noticed when driving in a convertible is that I need to wear a hat to keep what I can only describe as light flares.
Also when driving in a sedan & strong sun from the left, I need to shade my eye to avoid the distraction. My wife does not have similar issues. All things said very happy.

My eye doctor said I qualified for lens implants, although I have no serious eye function issues (except for dry-eye syndrome). He said the cataract acts like a warm filter on my photographs. Which means to me that I can never adjust for a true white balance by eye.

A couple years ago, I had an eyelid procedure. My vision brightened noticeably. Colors became more vibrant. Subjects became sharper. I felt stimulated from my perception including more light. I can recommend the procedure to lift the eyelids. My medical insurance plans covered the cost except for a reasonable copay.

Has anyone had cataract repair before? How did it effect your making photographs? Would the tri-focal be better than the distance focused lens?

i had the trifocal lenses put in and have very close to 2020 vision now (NO GLASSES) and love them for photography and anything else. Took me no time at all to get used to them (it is pretty automatic)

I think the "right answer" for deciding which lens option to choose for cataract repair will vary for each person. I have been near sighted my entire life so I opted for a near-sighted solution. I didn't want differences in vision between left and right eyes and didn't want to have to reach for reading glasses every time I needed to see something close. I had always worn eyeglasses anyway so it was no big deal to keep wearing them. I can comfortably read, even a menu in dim lighting, or use a computer without glasses but got eyeglasses with only a slight correction for those purposes anyway because they more perfectly matched those activities. I don't need to keep those two extra specs with me -- they are just more comfortable for long periods of use at home and I'm quite adequately equipped without them everywhere else I go.

I assume that my solution wouldn't be chosen by many others but it works well for me. Less than tack-sharp vision bothers me and at the time I needed cataract surgery the results from multi-vision solutions were providing less sharp results than single vision ones (according to those I talked to who had the experience). I assume that improvements have been made since.

If cataract surgery is needed, do some research to find who's really good at doing it and which solution is the best one for you and don't put it off! For me the vision improvement was amazing!

I had cataract surgery on both eyes about 10 yrs. ago. I use trifocal (progressive) lenses since with no problems.

I had both eyes done about 4 years ago. Since I live in New Haven I had them done at the Yale School of Medicine Eye Clinic and the head of the department was my surgeon.

Since Medicare won't cover the multi-focal lenses I got the lenses for distance correction. I am now 20-20 in both eyes. I do have to wear reading glasses.

The cataracts really didn't affect my photography much because of autofocus lenses. If I were still using manual focus lenses I would have been in big trouble.

The worse part of cataracts was the effect they had on my golf. I started miss-hitting the ball and it's no fun playing golf when you're hitting grounders. I haven't played since the surgery, but I definitely will be going out once it gets warm enough up here in balmy Southern Connecticut.

There's one feature you're forgetting with auto-focus with Nikon cameras, a little green dot in the bottom of the viewfinder lights up when the camera is in focus where the focus spot is aimed at...Its helped me out a lot of times when I not sure if the camera's is in focus or not...

I had cataract surgery on both eyes about 15 years ago followed by laser surgery to eliminate astigmatism. It totally changed my life for the better. I have 20/20 vision (after being very myopic most of my life). I still need spectacles for reading, but take better photographs than I ever did previously.

Ask about "Monovision". I have one eye prescribed for reading and short distance, and the other set for distance. The brain sorts out the combination, and I don't need glasses at all!
I was 90 last October, works for me !

I just had my left eye fixed two days ago; my right eye was done a few weeks ago. Both eyes are in sync and "I can see clearly now, the fog is gone." 🙂
I'm on Medicare so I got the single focus lenses, both eyes for near vision; different focus lenses were not for me. Everything is clear from closeup reading to the ends of my long arms.
Overall, my vision is about 20/30, so I can watch TV and drive during daylight. Next week, I'll get glasses for distance vision. Best advice I can give is to talk with your eye doctor to decide what will work best for you.

you're a little off...it's

"I can see clearly now, the rain is gone
I can see all obstacles in my way
Gone are the dark clouds that had me blind
It's gonna be a bright (Bright), bright (Bright)
Sun-shiny day
It's gonna be a bright (Bright), bright (Bright)
Sun-shiny day

I think I can make it now, the pain is gone
All of the bad feelings have disappeared
Here is the rainbow I've been prayin' for
It's gonna be a bright (Bright), bright (Bright)
Sun-shiny day

Look all around, there's nothin' but blue skies
Look straight ahead, nothin' but blue skies

I can see clearly now, the rain is gone
I can see all obstacles in my way
Gone are the dark clouds that had me blind
It's gonna be a bright (Bright), bright (Bright)
Sun-shiny day
It's gonna be a bright (Bright) bright (Bright)
