jdub82, your favorites have something in common with each other! They are just a couple of seconds apart and both photos are the same surfer on the same wave! Thank you for the nice compliments.

cameraf4, your descriptions really crack me up! I promise to keep posting more images! Yes, we have wildfires, mudslides and earthquakes in sunny California and we also have traffic jams and high taxes and expensive prices on our real estate. Other than that, it's a nice place to live. The weather seems to bring a lot of people out here!

Im always blown away by the shots you post. Im assuming yout not on the surf line when you take these so your reaching a good bit.

Bill, I don't mind sharing my formula for these photos. It may not be what the super pros use, but it seems to be working fine for me. I shoot with a Canon 6D with a 100-400 F4.5 IS II lens handheld. My settings are usually something like this: 1/1000, F4.5, ISO 200 depending upon the light. I also shoot from the Huntington Beach Pier and shoot North or South depending upon the light. Mid day is usually the worst so if you can get there at dawn or sunset you can usually get some good ones depending upon the waves. In between sets of waves I often look around for other subjects of interest.
