The ghost town of Ruby is a lot of fun. Getting there is also. We came in from Arivaca. Shortly after leaving Arivaca, the sort of paved road turned to dirt. It's not a bad road. Actually it's a really good road. But it goes every direction believable. By the time we arrived, I had no idea which direction was which (and I am really good at directions!). We couldn't get the map oriented either, so that didn't help. Now that I'm back home and trying to put names on peaks and ridges, it's really frustrating. So if any of you KNOW what the correct names are, I'd really appreciate it!

I loved the light on these hills.

I never think of this country as desolate. I guess to non-desert rats it would seem that way. It's thickly forested and wherever there's a tank, there's sure to be a cow or two. We saw deer. There are lots of snakes, so I wouldn't want to be there in the summer. Granted, there aren't many people, but there are small claims and some ranches in the area. We did see lots of people on the road, so it's not a deserted place at all. And, yes, it is beautiful.

Thanks!

Kathy, you have demonstrated that it is not just the destination, but the journey that counts!

My 5D has a few spots. If I decide to print any, I'll clean them up.

A Fantastic set of images!!! Kathy
Just a suggestion: use the compass on your cellphone to orient the map.
At one time I thought about adding coordinates to my images, that thought lasted about 30 seconds, next and final thought give the name of the area and maybe the road taken and let others have an adventure finding something to photograph.
However it is nice for you to know what you were seeing from your vantage point.

Out damned spots!!!
I noticed that when processing my "Snowed last night image" the. other day. Since the subject was just out my front door I dumped the images, Checked my sensor, then cleaned my lens, the uv filter looked like someone had sneezed on it many times, took a couple of cleanings before it was clear of ALL spots.
