Here are a couple of shots I took of my young model this summer. I do like the B&W medium for these type of portraits, it just seems like it just works better for me. Please feel free to give your opinions and suggestions. These were both shot with a Nikon D-3100 and a Tamron 18-270mm zoom.........

Beautiful young lady very well lit. The B&W certainly does work for me as wll. As strickly personal note, I think the hand is distracting...a close crop of just the face would work well, too, IMHO. Very fine shot and exposure!
Agree with the hands being sorta distracting... Her facial is so flawless and perfect with those also perfect pearly whites.... What a model she could be. !!!
I found the hand distracting in the first one but not in the second.
I like them. Well done.
Nice shots...hand or no hands.
Good sharp photos hands or not

I know you like the B&Ws---here is one W/O her hands adding any distractions. She is a blast to work with and can turn that smile on with those bright eyes on the drop of a dime..........
Thank you all for looking and your kind comments. One thing I hope to do before I kick off is to take Hanna's graduation photos...............
GORGEOUS model, and you captured her very nicely!! Really like all of them!!

Beautiful, good for you!..Many people are going to B&W portraits, they can be very dramatic! It is more then just hitting a conversion button also, that is why many don't work! These are good!
beeee------utiful shots. love the black and white. very beautiful girl.
you did great!!!
hands are always a big problem. on youtube, search for posing....and there's quite a few videos on how to handle hands.
keep up the great work!!

I think these are all superb portraits Coco. The images with the hand add a sense of mischievousness or even mystery, for example; why is she hiding or coming from behind the door? Whereas the portrait sans hand is a completely different photo. I like them all, the B&W treatment, composition & exposure. Well done!
Thanks again to all. I just shoot what's in front of me and when she agreed to model for me I figured if I can't get some good shots with her to work with I never will. Hopefully can get out and get somemore with the fall colors but she is very active in sports and school activities so I kind of have to fit in whenever. I have some indoor shots that I've seen that I think will work good with her during the winter months.............

I like #1, and the hands to me, were perfect.
