Aside from the burst rate difference, are you sure that the "better" colors that you observed from the mirrorless have not been adjusted in post processing?

it very well could be,

I don’t think you would go wrong by going with a Nikon mirrorless. The Z5 is the “budget” full frame mirrorless and the7II is at the top of the heap. Also, the Z6II is a good choice. And you can still use your current Nikon lenses. You just need to get the FTZ (F to Z mount) adapter. Your current lenses mount right on it and there’s no loss of image quality or performance. The new Zxx series produce very high quality images, and the new Z mount lenses are reported to be exceptionally sharp.

I can’t speak to the Canon mirrorless because I have no experience with canons. I do have Sony cameras and find the menus to be very logically laid out. Sony has made the sensors for Nikon, as well. If Sony interests you, the A7III is supposed to be outstanding. It’s a 24mp camera, but if you want more megapixels, consider the A7R IV, at 61mp, but it’s expensive, and you have to ask yourself if you really need that much camera for what you do.

But again, you can still use your current F mount Nikon lenses on a Z mount camera using the FTZ adapter.
I don’t think you would go wrong by going with a N... (show quote)

and this is why I asked, NO one has ever told me that about the FTZ.... that makes it a whole new ball game.

FTZ adapter—did the salesman mention?

I would ask but I found out reading a few messages here . You would think that would be the first thing they would say.

I disagree , why? the D810 came out 6 years ago.
The advances in camera computers and technology has way surpassed the quality of the D810 even the cheap beginner cameras , the computers are much better.

So yes I do believe the photos will be better . IMHO

So because the D810 is old not because it's a DSLR. Compare to the D850 and perhaps the rumored D880. There is no inherit advantage in term of image quality for the mirrorless.

Actually there is. Mirrorless cameras use the image sensor for focus . DSLRs use separate detectors.

No need to fine tune focus with mirrorless.

In most cases Mirrorless have updated processors than their DSLR predecessors. Better high ISO performance and image rate. The new Z6 and Z7 have two processors.

I have the Z50 and the Z6. Autofocus is faster than the D850 and also sharper. I will probably get the Z6ii. For the price, you can't beat it. Also, I can use all of my Nikon lenses with the FTZ adapter.

I will sell my Z50, Z6, D850, D500 Nikon P1000, and several lenses. The lenses for the Z series of cameras are better than the DSLR lenses, from what I've seen.

I'm also looking to buy the Z6II. I'm waiting for the 24-105mm S lens to come out. It should be released this year.

I recently purchased a Canon mirrorless and kept my Nikon DSLR. I would say that fundamentally, there is little difference in the quality of images that the two cameras capture. But I do find a few of the mirrorless advantages help me take better photographs; namely exposure simulation in the viewfinder, depth of field at exposure brightness, and an autofocus area that covers nearly all of the FOV.

Plus the FTZ, of which you are now aware, which isn't cheap, will allow you to use some/most/all of your existing lenses (check the lenses you have for compatibility).

Once again not inherit reason.

Many people are doubting that mirrorless will produce better image quality than DSLRs. The new Z lens mount on the Nikon mirrorless cameras are allowing engineers to design better lenses. LensTip.com does extensive testing. Here are image resolution charts from their testing. The F-mount Nikon AF-S 24-70 mm f/2.8E ED VR has excellent resolution. The Z-mount 24-70 f/2.8 S lens has insane resolution.

I traded my Nikon D60 for a Sony Alpha 7R3. No comparison really. I found the nikon a good camera but not in the same class as the Sony. Traded it in when Sony was offering $500. off on any working digital camera last year.

I'm not sure that Nikon is still has the offer out on the Zll series where you get the FTZ adapter for $45.00 if you purchase it with the camera. A $200.00 savings.

I don't believe the Canon R series cameras lens are cheaper than the Nikon Z series. Have any comparisons. For wildlife & movie , the Canon mirrorless focus system seems to be getting better reviews. I think the C anon Camera cost more also. Depends on your needs. The Z6 II is a good deal for the money. If your talking about replacing all your lens also the Sony 7R4 on sale now is a better deal than the Z7 II. If you are going to use your Nikon lens with the FTZ adaptor & maybe upgrade to Z lens as budget allows then Nikon is the way to go IMHO.

Before you buy a new camera, ask yourself how are your camera and post-processing skills? Your camera, unless it's malfunctioning, is plenty enough for quality photography.
