IMHO that is kind of 'pushing things'. Until recent times, People did not travel far - many lived within five miles of home for their whole life. Groups of Christians met together, and as they began to communicate with other groups - created names. IE The Congregation. Some emphasized baptism - and became know as the Baptists.
Some went off in weird directions, some kind of go off the rails - and in the Book of Revelation - John writes to some of these - but it is not correct to say that this applies to all.
Having said that, there are those who feel that their 'calling' is to try and change others to think the same way they do.
