When compositing a creative image it's quite routine to have no idea quite where it will end up, or to be taken in a different direction to originally imagined. This image is part way through one I posted a short time ago - you can find it here if you wish https://www.uglyhedgehog.com/t-667691-1.html and is very different to the final.
Although this is unfinished I think I might prefer it to the 'final' version now I'm looking back at it. You'll have to forgive its shortcomings but I wonder which you find preferable?
I should add, I'm not doing much computing at the moment due to a major home office move, so this is a cheating way of staying in touch, and with Halloween flooding the net it's quite appropriate don't you think?

Both beautifully done in their own right. I love the stark rawness of the first one, it’s much more dramatic.

I like them both. Each has its particular mood. Maybe for hallowe'en, the darker one is appropriate. As they say, if you start with a good image, anything is possible. Please stay well and get back to posting soon.

It's a good example of how colour can make for a weaker image (being discussed elsewhere). This one definitely has more impact because the colouring suits the intended mood.

The previously posted made me uncomfortable (as we chatted about in a pm), but this one doesn't. The lack of detail in the figure's skin, and the unrealistic skin tone makes this less human and more dream-like.

Very interesting to compare! Thanks so much for posting, and best of luck with your project, Dave.

Thank you joehel2. Do you mean the first one I posted (I.e. the other version to this post) or this one, being the first one in the development chain?

Just shows how we each have particular likes - I would have said this one is more Halloween than the previous post, even though it’s lighter. Many thanks for your comments.

Yes, take your point RG, but your link discusses b&w vs colour which generally seems a bit pointless to me. I was about to prattle on about that but tommystrat’s views in the link are pretty much my own. That buffalo could be quite outstanding with a little more work. Thanks for your comments, they’re always appreciated.

I see what you mean Linda and whilst I hadn’t analysed it as you have, I think that’s why I like this version. Strange really as at the time of making it I felt bound to improving the look!
We are just waiting for Boris to make an announcement which may delay the extension of my internet connection by a month! That will put my project on hold. He’s on the box in a few minutes - I expect a full lockdown to commence shortly.
Thanks for your comments, you know they’re appreciated.

A very challenging year that appears will continue well into 2021. Take care, thinking of you.

I meant the first one you posted. I remember studying the elements when you posted it and going over it again when you shared the link here. But, they are both special. Thanks for sharing them.

Thanks for clarifying - nice to know you enjoyed them both.
