Amazing how many folks are taking you seriously......

What a load of BS! Why would a company deliberately destroy it's own reputation? Sony also makes sensors for Fuji, Hasselblad and Pentax amoung others. Sounds to me like the bug is in your own thinking.

It’s a joke guys, it’s a joke (Paul is kidding)

One fact is that Nikon was 5 years behind Olympus-Panasonic when they finally decided to make a "serious" mirrorless camera. I have no experience with those mirrorless cameras made by Nikon since all I use from them is a D7000 and a D610, both cameras have served me well and I have used Nikon cameras and lenses for more than 55 years. For mirrorless I went with Olympus-Panasonic and I do not regret my choice.

All camera companies have had financial problems except for Sony. Look at what happened to Olympus after 84 years, they simply had to sell their camera business because business was no longer productive for them. My son along with the CEO of the company where he works have tried to collect near a million dollars from Canon for several years without much success. I agree with Ken Rockwell, it is no 1983 any longer. Technology has changed everything. Many persons are using their cell phone instead of buying a camera. That has been a big blow to the camera industry. I am surprised that Pentax has not fallen but I bet their sales of camera and lenses is lower than ever.

Times have changed. Companies like Kodak, Agfa, Ferrania, Ilford just to mention a few have disappeared with the evolution of the digital cameras. Point and shoot are so scarce that we can say they have found their demise. Mirrorless are modifying the way we use cameras and the old dSLR could be in danger of disappearing forever or at least a majority of them.

Yes, technology is changing everything.

I am interested in how you feel about Nikon as an investment over Canon for young professionals breaking into the business. I've been following the downfall of Nikon for a while and it seems like they just don't have the "umph" to keep up.

Full disclosure: I shoot Nikon weddings, portraits, landscapes. I am well aware of the Nikon quality. I am interested in your oppinion on Ken's comments.

I'm very happy that Nikon's poor quality control and questionable service forced me into the Canon world back in the '90's. However, Canon's slow entry into full frame mirrorless lost the race to Sony. Now they're playing catch-up. I wish them luck!

You missed "April's fools", but the "October Fools" are here and posting. They didn't get Paul's joke and even after we have said he was joking, they aren't reading the entire thread. So just let 'em go and post this somewhere else and get laughed at there.

I saw this was reported in 2009, do you think they are still doing it? Didn't Nikon pioneer the BSI sensor that Sony manufactured for them and Nikon gave them the rights to put it in Sony cameras.

Sounds like b.s. and an 'urban myth.' Do you have ANY links to real data on this purported secret plot?

Bet you even point out April Fools jokes before people have their first cup of coffee on April 1.

Give people a chance to build up a good appetite before you serve them crow.

I have been reading Ken Rockwell since 2003. I learned a lot from his articles. However, he has turned into just another camera brand whore. He ALWAYS said he was only interested in what the piece of equipment would do and not do. Well, looks like he got his woo hoo caught in a NIKON wringer and now can't bad mouth NIKON enough. It's a shame, cause I thought he was an up front kind of guy. I just recently deleted him from my most read web sites

Just for the record, I disagree.

The first time I visited KRs site was to download
his "Nikon D700 Users' Guide circa 2012 when the RMIT IT guy
loaned me a D700 for the weekend; for the
following 8 years I've been a regular digester of KRs reviews of cameras and lenses.

His reviews can be objective and are often subjective too... HOWEVER!
imho they are always, and I mean always unbiased.

And for those 8 years I've been reading him,
he's always hung shit on Nikon, Canon, and every other manufacturer
when he does not like a camera, lens, or a feature of a camera or lens.

And for all those manufacturers he can and does wax lyrical about
products and features he likes.

One word imho describes KR: Impartial.

Your problem fstoprookie is (unlike KR) you are partial to Nikon,
and have got your knickers in a twist, because KR has recommended
Canon over Nikon this time. LOL
