Love my Nikons, but am concerned about their longevity just like many other Nikon users are. It would be a huge blow to the industry if Nikon fell by the wayside. Tony Northrup released his initial impressions of the Z IIs from the specs and while he was very careful with his words, I believe he has written off Nikon as well. Personally, I'm going to continue shooting with my D850 / D500 combination and not make any decisions until I see independent reviews from people who get their hands on production models. A lot will hinge on the body, but equally the quality and price of the glass as I've got more money in glass than I do in 4 Nikon bodies.

And all of those bodies and lenses will continue to produce exactly the same high quality images they did before the current mirrorless GAS attack.
Rockwell is talking about mirrorless tech. If you stay DSLR this means nothing! And probably means nothing anyway.
Nikon will have a Z9 pro level mirrorless camera out next year. Nikon has been slow to transition to mirrorless but will catch up .They're rolling out outstanding Z lenses on an ongoing basis.

It’s a race. Will they be shut down due to poor financial performance before they can come up with a competitive model?
I'd read what Thom Hogan had to say first.
Ignoramus question: If you have a DSLR and want to go to a mirrorless camera of the same brand, do you have to buy new lenses?

Technically, no, you just need the appropriate adapter. For a company like Nikon, you may need to consider if your auto-focus type lenses all retain autofocus on their mirrorless platform. For an upward compatible system like Canon EOS, all your EF / EF-S lenses retain full functionality, including full AF performance, on their mirrorless bodies.
You obtain a number of benefits of a mirrorless body. But, to maximize the larger / newer sensor and processor, you also want native mirrorless lenses. If for nothing else, also for the smaller size and weight without the added adaptor.

How about Sony? How well can you adapt Sony A lenses to E mount camera?

I like my Nikon but when its dead, I will reevaluate my position .I read that article a few weeks ago. One thing I have learned in life, if I follow everyone else , i'll always be a follower and never a leader . ( Bruce Kafer 2018)

There are both Sony and third-party adapters covering the A-mount to E-mount. Read the specs and user comments to confirm how much (or little) each adapter retains for existing AF lenses from the A-mount body to the E-mount body.

Well, you read it on the internet ...
Then it MUST be true, if its on the Internet!!!!
For the subject of this post I'm going to say the URL provided was about as useless as the argument for which camera is the best. Hint - depends on how much $ you want to spend...
