Nice set Linda. I picked fruit in what is now Silicon Valley when I was young. Apricots and pears mostly. Walnuts and prunes where you had to crawl on your hands and knees and sort through the leaves to find the fruit.

Commercial orchards just north of Yakima, Washington. Smoke is from wildfires near and far.

The last is a 3-shot pano (vertical orientation) showing the ridge to the left of the southern entrance to the Yakima River Canyon. The canyon (a designated scenic byway) was part of a 75,000 acre fire.

Feedback and suggestions are welcomed.

A bit of nostalgic glow for the few old-time orchards left.

This may be your most effective set ever for conveying a sense of place. Really splended work my friend. You made great use of the smoke flavored light! Your processing reminds me of "orange crate art" and that is a high compliment.

I'm so grateful for your lovely comments, Phil! I was pleased with the compositions I was able to get, and I seem to be using a lot of glow in my edits this year. Happy colors for the most part, too. Gotta keep photography a joy no matter the news headlines.

I'm not familiar with the "orange crate art" and Google seems to be referencing a music album. Tell me more

Hugs to you and yours!

This will get you started https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Orange_Crate_Art Also called fruit crate art, it is my favorite form of commercial art. The purposeful, orderliness of orchard farming has always given me pleasure. and then the colors in blossom and fruit time! Yeah, you got me with this post, thanks.
Hugs right back!

That's the link I saw but only got as far as the first sentence, lol. Now I have more info from the rest of that paragraph:

sun-drenched, idealized paintings that grace wooden fruit crates, and its theme is a nostalgic view of the history of California. I have seen several of these old crates, including at the "store" of an in-town family-owned orchard.

Thanks again, Phil. It is a great gift when someone says a photo touched them.

The wiki link was not the best, most of my attempts led to commerical links, reproduction sales are a big deal.
https://www.frontierlabel.com/blog/the-history-of-fruit-crate-labels The best stuff came from the 30's and if they had glow they would have used it with glee!

Oh my...gotta go with Grandma's, I think. No ice cream on top unless it's hand made

Just to toss another curve ball at you, Linda, if you are having that pie on a cool autumn evening, skip the home made ice cream and top it with a Proper English Custard, served warm, of course. Enjoy.

Enjoyed your set of images Linda. Felt I was walking down the aisles of applies with you, especially #2. Winds shifted and central Oregon is in it's 2nd day of terrible air quality from 3 fairly close fires. Bev
