Even the left-est of the left-ists realize that 37 layers of administration and unions deflect massive amounts of funding that could and should go to the kids' education. So my question is why do those same l*****ts insist installing a health care system in the same layered and redundant regulation / federal funding model would be a good plan?

You bring up a good point but don't wait for anybody on the Left to admit their system is completely screwed up. It is like Obama putting so many restrictions on business that a couple wanting to open up a diner would have to jump through hoops just to open their business. With all of these i***tic restrictions money gets collected by the city, county or state. What Liberal cannot resist that all important point of taking money from taxpayers.

Unions pretty much run politics now. They were outdated back in the 1950's and were recognized as being corrupt, in it for the Union bosses rather than the workers and so on. Take a look at Chicago and their teachers union. They went on strike years ago when Rahm Emmanuel was the Mayor of Chicago. He started out telling them that he could not afford to meet their demands. After maybe a couple of weeks somehow their demands were met and at that time as I recall they were the highest paid teachers in America.

Years ago a school in NY tried to fire a teacher. The union prevented the teacher from being terminated so that teacher sat in a classroom by himself all day collecting full pay. This is ridiculous that an employee, ANY employee cannot be terminated for good cause. And yet the teachers union won't allow teachers to be fired. So our children are taught not necessarily by the best teachers but in some cases by the very worst teachers on the planet.

There are laws in place now to protect employees but Unions still fight to stay in business and collect dues from members just so they can be employed.

This is so true in most all unions - labor and safe working laws came into being because of unions - I am a retired Northern CA Retail clerk work 40 yrs to get my 30 yr benefits-but I worked with a lot of people who should have been fired and were not because the employer would not or did not keep proper records of them. in short one can blame management for not taking the time to document their work habits - both good and bad.

The closed schools and online classes such as college classes have proved that in-class teachers are not required to educate children. Script the class lessons for each grade, record them and play them. Each year over and over for each new class. All children will receive the exact same lessons. No live teachers....just a prerecorded lesson plan for the day. No need for State run school systems. Online education can be a national...even global...form of education with today's technology.

Closing the schools due to the C***D v***s has shown us exactly what is necessary and what is not essential in our daily lives and obviously the face to face school system has been proven to be non-essential with their closings.

Turn the brick and mortar schools into parking lots, liquor stores or a******n clinics and return the revenue to the States. Online college has show this to be successful as well as profitable.

Families that want to send their children to private schools can always have the choice to do so.

Just a question. Why should people without kids pay for the school? This very true for people on fix income . I have seen school budget v**ed down. Than the same budget come up a second time, third time and on and on. I don't known about other states but here in New York the school year is 180 days. Why 180 days? I don't known. What is with the schools not open in July and August? It a known fact that when kids come back to school in the fall, their have forget what their knew back in the spring. In the township I live in teachers are the highest pay people. Most of the teachers don't live this township. I could go on but it time to cook dinner.

They make the decision to pay those taxes when the buy their homes , or rent, in high tax areas. JUst one of the reasons I left long island and moved to N.E. Ct. I pay less than 1/2 of the real tax on my 32 acre farm than I did on my 1/2 acre house

You are correct Harvey. Documentation must be kept up. I was also in the Retail Clerks Union. It wasn’t needed. No union is needed. But unions donate millions to Democrats who do what unions want them to do. Democrats then do the Union bidding. Problem is there are Conservatives who are union workers too. They rightfully get pissed when their union dues are given to Democrats.

I can’t speak for everyone but I can say my 12 year old granddaughter wants to go back to a real school. She is at the top of her class but tells us she learned almost nothing online. It is a poor way to teach according to her.

Who gets to decide what curriculum is taught in school? Will it be Republicans, Democrats, religious leaders, Catholic, Muslim, Protestant, Hindu, another religion such as Wicken? Anybody else see a problem here?

Yes I am, and we have come to the point that the Progressive movement has taken over the educational system.

Sorry but there are just too many single parents - both male & female - who are incapable of home schooling as well as ones who are totally incapable of doing it - my parents were from the depression era and had very little schooling - 4th grade tops - they could not help my brother and I with many subjects - there are many who just don't care - they relish every hour the kids are at school/out of the house.

Not all parents - not even a small % - are willing and or capable of what you suggest.

I believe teachers are under paid and under appreciated in this country. I further believe spending more money to educate young people in this country would be money well spent, and should be a larger priority.

Underpaid!
Really?

Paying teachers Morris not going to make them better teachers !!

Teaching should be a professional activity ala engineering or doctors.
Teachers would begin at the bottom. And learn their trade starting with an teacher in training progressing to a professional teacher with continuing education requirements.
In addition the testing should be unique to what the teach . Math for math. Reading for reading .

In addition I believe in private schools as an alternative to public schools.
As it stands now public schools have no incentive to improve as they have no competition.

If parents want to send their kids to private schools they should get a voucher for the part of their taxes dedicated to education.
Competition with grow and control pricing. And availability.

Schools - private and public - will compete for students by improving teaching and facilities.

Paying someone more to be a better teacher. Bad idea.
Someone wanting to be a teacher has to do 10 weeks of teaching in a school. It was call "student teaching" when I was in college .
Forget about private school, person want to sent their kid or kids to private school no tax right off or voucher for paying to send their kids to a private school. It their money that send a kid to private school, no goverment help.
