WOOOPS - you don't communicate with many or ANY teachers do you?

Too many students per teacher, required to work "free time" to prepare for class or grade tests, pay for supplies out of their own pocket without reimbursement, no discipline for unruly students - yes and pay checks smaller than national average for same work.

No question that teachers are underpaid. In many systems the educational administration personell are grossly overpaid. Those bloated salaries "steal" funds that should go to classroom teachers. Tenure is another problem, both in grade schools and universities. I know it's there to protect educational independence and educational freedom, but in most cases it's counterproductive. No other occupation has tenure. "Can't be fired for any reason" guarantees mediocracy.(sp?)

Isn't interesting, that whenever a school budget is v**ed down ...... it is ALWAYS because people without children in the school system v**ed against the budget .....

Just a question. Why should people without kids pay for the school? This very true for people on fix income . I have seen school budget v**ed down. Than the same budget come up a second time, third time and on and on. I don't known about other states but here in New York the school year is 180 days. Why 180 days? I don't known. What is with the schools not open in July and August? It a known fact that when kids come back to school in the fall, their have forget what their knew back in the spring. In the township I live in teachers are the highest pay people. Most of the teachers don't live this township. I could go on but it time to cook dinner.

Way back in the 5th or 6th grade someone in my class asked that very same question. The teacher told us the most common sense answer he could. We ALL pay into the system so that every one of our children gets a chance at school. That makes our country better for everyone across the country. Gosh Darn Bill 45. I thought everyone just plain and simply knew that answer.

Kids forgetting over the summer what they learned the previous year??? Everyone knows this??? What a royal crock of bulls**t. Using the common sense method of thinking if that was really true then every grade would have to be repeated wouldn't it? But the real answer is kids do not forget what they have learned. Don't you personally still recall things you learned 50 years ago in school? That may be true when it comes to you learning English composition, writing sk**ls, probably enunciation sk**ls too and spelling. But the rest of us with the exception of a few Liberals on the forum STILL remember what they learned back 50 years ago and some even longer.

Please go cook dinner before you forget how to turn on the stove or microwave. God help you.

Dennis

And yet on other threads you say we need to keep our nation closed down until a v*****e for C****-** is in place. How long do you think kids will remember what they learned if they’re out of school for a year?

I have many dedicated, children-caring teachers in my family as well. I believe teachers are under paid and under appreciated in this country. I further believe spending more money to educate young people in this country would be money well spent, and should be a larger priority.

That explains why we spend more on average per student than anyone on Earth, only to get very poor results.

I agree.

Don’t you think people charged with educating the future should be held responsible for the results they produce?

I don't necessarily disagree but as you might know that money allocated for the kids rarely gets to the kids. I believe it is also a proven fact that the richest schools with greater amounts of money going to the children's needs are not necessarily the best schools for kids. It is the teaching staff that make the difference rather than the amount of money spent on the kids; up to a point.

My best wishes to the teachers in your family,

Dennis

Even the left-est of the left-ists realize that 37 layers of administration and unions deflect massive amounts of funding that could and should go to the kids' education. So my question is why do those same l*****ts insist installing a health care system in the same layered and redundant regulation / federal funding model would be a good plan?

There has always been parents who don’t care, the overwhelming majority do.

Why do you think so many parents send their kids to private schools ?

Why do you think charter schools are so popular?

Surely you don’t really believe that it is because they don’t value education.

What going to happen to people in their 70s and up who can't pay the yearly increase in school taxes? Have you ever see a school cut the taxes- real taxes cuts, not a shell game. Dennis I did not know you had a PhD grammar. What do I call you? Dr. ? Back to school. Why is it that every year one see the increase in money for people working at the school. That can be good times and bad times. Why is it at a lot of schools you see family members working at the same school? Don't tell me that does not happen.
Now You have a PhD do you think you can give a reply that is not all trash talk or answer like a grade school drop out.
