The second world war ended in 1945.
Disease caused the most deaths of many wars. It hasn't ended any.
WW1 ended because the Germans lost. WWII ended because the Germans and Japanese lost.

Yup, Washington took boat loads of his sick and frozen clan of misfits(soldiers) to Trenton and ended the Revolutionary War.
