The 1917 flu probably ended WWII.

“In 1917 ... the great pandemic certainly was a terrible thing where they lost anywhere from 50 to 100 million people,” the president noted about the 1918 flu pandemic. Probably ended the Second World War, all the soldiers were sick. That was a terrible situation.”

In fact your "president" has some strange ideas about a lot of things!

Jerry, it was the first world war and the Spanish flu started in 1918, but yes the pandemic probably brought around the end of the war.

The Atomic bomb ended WWII.

I think Jerry was citing a statement by our president who keeps referring to the Spanish Flu pandemic as having begun in 1917. His knowledge of history is somewhat lacking, as he sometimes conflates the World Wars, and in one speech related how Washington's continental army was able to retake the airports, thereby cementing victory.

Still, you can't deny the fact that the British did not occupy on US airport during the Revolutionary War.

World War I ended because Germany realized they were losing. Period.
Please do not rewrite history.

True, Jerry, but the mind boggles at the image of George Washington cruising above his New York and New Jersey emplacements in a wood and canvas biplane.
It seems that some readers think that you were being serious and trying to rewrite history.

Those old guys were much more flexible than we think.
His being in an airplane is less odd than someone implying that he might.

I'd prefer to say it drew the final curtain. Much of the war was over by then.

Sorry. I should have worded this better. I was quoting someone else who said this recently.

The Second World War ended in 1945 so the 1918 flu had quite a delayed impact. Probably something to do with quantum mechanics.
