1. Term limits.
Senate—2 terms (12 years)
House—6 terms (12 years)

2. Reduce congress’ pay and allowances.
The American people were not put on the face of the earth to make the people serving in Congress rich(extremely rich). Trim their pay while active, and VERY drastically reduce their retirement. Tie any pay raises to military pay (both active duty and retirees) and social security.
Congress will reject both of these ideas because they won’t want us( the people they are paid to serve) putting our hands in their pockets.

Congress

Isn’t it time we crack down on the worthless Congress we now have? Many people are desperately trying to figure out how they are going to put the next meal on the table and all the while our over-fed fat cats in Congress are playing politics while not approving the next stimulus package so desperately needed by many.
We need to change the system and allow ONLY one item at a time to be put on a bill. No more adding items to the bill that many times have little or nothing to do with the original intent of the bill and probably wouldn’t pass on their own. I realize in some instances this may slow the system down somewhat but how fast is the system working right now such as on the stimulus package? When something is tacked on a bill it only gives the opposite side an opportunity to object to what amounts many times to trivial arguments that delay passing something of importance. If an item can’t pass on its own merit it shouldn’t be allowed to be piggybacked on another bill: period.
I for one am tired of Congress being paid then spending so much time arguing about insignificant provisions of a bill while delaying passage of something badly needed by many. I wonder how fast the stimulus bill would pass if it was Congress members families not having the money to purchase groceries? This country needs some major changes, and probably starting with Congress would be an excellent starting point.

Congress passed a bill. The Senate rejected it. It is just that simple.

So they let you back out. Too bad I have not been in Philly for almost three years. So you have a new market to sell your drugs.

Wikipedia has a pretty detailed report of the congressional retirement system. My phone is smarter than me so I cant figure out a direct link, but a quick Google will get you there.

I I will post it for you :

“””” Congressional pension is a pension made available to members of the United States Congress. As of 2019, members who participated in the congressional pension system are vested after five (5) years of service. A full pension is available to members 62 years of age with 5 years of service; 50 years or older with 20 years of service; or 25 years of service at any age. A reduced pension is available depending upon which of several different age/service options is chosen. If Members leave Congress before reaching retirement age, they may leave their contributions behind and receive a deferred pension later.[1] The current pension program, effective January 1987, is under the Federal Employees Retirement System (FERS), which covers members and other federal employees whose federal employment began in 1984 or later. This replaces the older Civil Service Retirement System (CSRS) for most members of congress and federal employees.

You do know that Congress is both the House of Representatives AND the Senate, don’t you?

Perhaps you can explain how if Congress passed a Bill, meaning the Senate AND the House, how then did the Senate reject it?

Are you telling us the House passed a Bill and not Congress?

Here's a question that I have asked myself many times. Perhaps you may want to ask yourself as well.

"How much money (of yours or of others) would you spend to get the job you have or had?"

Well, a Congressman or Senator politician spends millions of dollars in mostly contributions to get a job that pays $174,000 a year. Sounds quite strange to me and this is not taking any political party side for they are all the same.

Then...spend millions more of other peoples contributions each time that they come up for re-e******n.

So..."How much money was contributed by others to you to get your job and to keep your job?"
Here's a question that I have asked myself many ti... (show quote)

The fact that someone earns millions of dollars does not make them a crook.
