I am trying to decide if Luminar 4 is worth buying or not...I would want to use it for sky replacement mostly...

I currently use Lightroom and PS Elements

will there be any advantages to adding Luminar 4 to my battery of Post Processing Software.

Thanks for your input

Chuck

I use it daily and have stopped the PS beast entirely. Try it for free and make up your own mind...

Cheers!

None better for sky replacement.

Luminar is great. I use it on my old Mac pro as a PS plugin. no problems! I don't replace sky myself but if you are interested in that have a look at this video.

Sadly I think if people who are experiencing problems are using a Windows computer. On Macs there are far fewer.
I use it exclusively and would sooner be "out there" than staring at computer screens. This does what I want in less time than Adobe products have in the past.

You can't go wrong with Luminar, nice software, works great as a standalone or PS/LR plugin but, be aware, stay in version 4.2 as the newest one, 4.3, is buggy to a point that some (myself included) are not being able to pass the splash screen. As an IT professional I know it happens sometimes and will be fixed but don't venture to 4.3 as of yet, subscribe but let them know you want 4.2 for now.

Forgot to post in my previous answer. Here is one of the forums regarding the updated (4.3) version. Don't get scared by some (justified) irate posts as the software does not work for many - and I mean many - of us. It is a complex software and Luminar seems to be a small company with not that many resources for an expanded beta testing and this happens quite often. Give them sometime and they will fix it. It is amazing in helping your post-editing. Sky replacement is the cherry on the top but it has many other functionality also.

I do not concur, 4.3 sped up functioning and added VALUE features .I first used it on my i3 16 gig six year old WIN 10 and about one out of ten times opening time was excessive. However, on my i5 16gig and my Ryzen 7 16 gig WIN 10 PRO, I can say the only issue I have is an occasional, in my opinion, excessive export time; probably due to the 40 meg plus files.

Bottom line, most of the time, my workflow is quicker and results more satisfactory than using LR. I did install the standalone download, rather than the streaming install.

What "speedmaster" posted is correct. Stay with v4.2 until Luminar has cleaned all the bugs in v4.3.
As a software company, Luminar has a very popular editor, but it cannot be expected to test every possible combination (motherboards & video cards).
When it works right, Luminar is a very good editing solution.

I like Luminar and have been using it from the beginning. But 4, wow, I'm having a lot of buggy problems with it; way more than version 3. It's super slow - even the latest upgrade - and sometimes doesn't open at all (I use it as a Lightroom plug-in). I've been extremely disappointed.

That's odd. I've been using luminar 3 and now for 4. It seems like a constant improvement on my machine. Wonder if maybe something is amiss in your machine. Just a thought not trying to be knowing or hateful.

I actually have a new computer. Latest Windows with 32gb of Ram and 1TB SSD. But Luminar Plug ins are giving me problems, had no plug in problems with prior versions of Luminar which I have used for several years both as a stand alone and as a plug in.

I have a windows computer, have not had a problem with Luminar 3 or 4. I also have Aurora, no issues at all.

Agrees with my experience.

I suspect those who have been having problems simply do not have enough memory (in their PC, of course).

What GPU are you using? Sometimes the Intel chip GPU can cause problems.

I'm running an Intel i7, 32GB RAM, compatible Radeon graphics card and have the splash screen freezing issue when using L4.3 as a plugin.

Works great MacPro 2015 as plug-in to Lr and stand alone.
See Scott Davenports 'What's New in 4.3'

I watch this channel to learn about Luminar 4, I have no affiliation or connection to Jim Nix, I just like his tutorials

Thanks for posting. Jim Nix is easy to follow and has a smooth, logical way of presenting things.
He has a "patter" which is easy to follow
The Luminar 4.3 Update https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LQV6107FSuA is a good example.
Please excuse my jumping in, I'm not trying to hijack this thread.
