Glad this came up today. I had been thinking it was me and not 4.3 that caused me to no longer be able to use the program. Folks might want to wait until the programmers get their programs together before trying it out.

I have not had any issues with Luminar 4, I did have a problem with an earlier version loading being very slow. Its just one more tool in the tool box.

Luminar 4 by far does the best job of sky replacement of any software currently available.

There's a known issue with Luminar 4.3 affecting many users (including myself) which prevents the program from getting past the splash screen. Skylum is aware and said they're working on a fix.

FYI - I tried every solution presented in their support forum and none worked. I was able to revert back to 4.2 after using CCleaner to uninstall and clean the registry, and that version is is working fine. If you're looking into purchasing Luminar for the first time, download the trial version and if it works okay you should be good to go.

I just found this out too, yssirk123. It's pinned on their forum which can be found here:

I did get 4.3 to work by opening it in compatibility mode for Windows 8, though i have a Windows 10 machine. This was a final suggestion way down on the list of things to try. So, it's working again for me as a stand alone and as a LR plugin.

I have had every version since Luminar 2018 up to and including 4.3 with no problems on my Windows 10 PC. It’s a Lenovo gaming computer with 16 GB RAM and a Nvidia GTX 1060 3GB graphics card.
I also primarily use my own sky selection, either by taking sky photos local to the scenes I have shot, or cutting a sky from a different photo in order to use a sky true to the area in which the photo was taken.
I primarily use Luminar for its AI features and Affinity for everything else, and feel Luminar is worth the money. The new version loads quickly for me and I like that it uses the File Explorer system so if I move or delete something within Explorer, Luminar doesn’t lose track of it.
It’s definitely worth a trial.

I forgot to add to the previous YouTube recommendation of Jim Nix videos: Anthony Morganti also does YouTube tutorials on Luminar and I have found him helpful also.

I have 4.3 windows version and have no problems. The sky replacement is awesome. The other features are good, and I agree, the erase tool is superior to LR and for that matter, inpixio.

I am trying to decide if Luminar 4 is worth buying or not...I would want to use it for sky replacement mostly...

will there be any advantages to adding Luminar 4 to my battery of Post Processing Software.

I use Luminar 4.3, disliked ver.3, 4 was a BIG improvement. 4.3 is amazing. I do not use it as a plugin with LR or PS, but standalone. My biggest gripe is that exporting large files takes more time than I'd like. But, 4.3 is faster than 4 and is not a resource hog. The AI sometimes is too stellar, but then one can tune it down.
I have used it for portraits, real estate photography and family snap shots. A very addictive app. LR is superior with its cataloging and "unbundled" tricks. But for quick improve, rents or changes use Luminar.

I forgot to tell you in my last post the memory consumption. You must have at least 8Gb ram memory because Luminar sucks you 4Gb as you can see in the following picture.

I have been using Luminar 4 for quite a while. I am an affiliate. I have added my own skies to the program, I prefer to use my own. I have them labeled by location.

I don't have any problems with the program. I think it depends on your computer memory and graphics.

I do have a discount code. PM me if interested.

Thanks for the info. I've been considering adding Luminar. Can you tell me how to PM you?

Luminar 4 is fantastic! The sky replacement alone is worth the price. I used to use Topaz and PSE but now I use Luminar almost exclusively. The adjustments in the Essentials section are usually enough. Also great clone stamp and Erase tools. See my posts on Northern Ireland for examples. I still use Topaz for noise reduction and sharpening.

$5.00 software? Don't even think about it. In terms of data security, it's a no go. If that doesn't get the point, maybe this addage will: cheap is cheap.
Regarding your Luminar question, in terms of sky replacement, Luminar does an incredible masking job, no halos, no bypixeling, no aberrations and no shadows. It does a great pixel replacement with good luminance.
Try the free trial and see if it suits your needs.

I'm using L4 on an iMac (2011) on high sierra. Other than being a bit slow I haven't had any problems with it other than support. It is a bit slow compared to my primary pp software On1 Raw 2020. I would never trust it as a DAM after L3 and all the problems people are reporting with it still. But it has some really great features as a plugin (doesn’t really work correctly for On1 Raw 2020 so I have to export it to the folder) from Lightroom Classic. Its best features for me are AI Enhance which does the best auto job as a starting point of any app I own (which is most of them), Sky Enhance, Detail Enhancer, Landscape Enhancer. I don’t use sky replacement but it does do a great job IF you make sure they match (i.e. sun coming from same direction). The portrait filters are the easiest I've ever used (not a portrait photographer). Jim Nix has a wonderful set of videos on using L4. Certainly worth looking at, depending on what you shoot and what you are looking the end results to be.
