As I said at the time, I realized I was taking a chance, but I figured with my CC and PP, I had some backup. I've been buying online since it was a thing, and this is my first problem.

"and this is my first problem". Are you kidding? You are posting problems all the time about shopping on line. Faulty merchandise, the wrong merchandise, shipping problems, etc. I think you need some help, or a new hobby Jerry.

There has been an advertiser on Facebook recently advertising mostly high-end clothes for very cheap prices. With a very impressive website looking authentic I bit for a couple Ralph Lauren items. Of course, never got them and eventually was refunded by my CC company. I kept seeing the ads and kept reporting them to FB. I'll never be that greedy again.

This happened to me with a company called Pearlfeet, which allegedly sells shoes. Out of China, of course. I filed a complaint with my credit card company, who credited back my account, and I never heard about it again. One thing this pandemic has highlighted is the blatant dishonesty of so many Chinese companies.

Be glad you didn't purchase from a company called "Wish". I'm only out for about $12.00.
They did give me my postage back though. My package was at customs USA for a couple of weeks then it went back to China.

i ordered 3 shirts from wish ..all were 2 xl but when i got them the shirts were about the size a 60 lb kid would wear .now they are just rags cost too much to send back

This is a follow-up.

I realized I was probably taking a chance when I ordered a $51.00 bike from a company in China with an office in FL. The bike never arrived, but they sent a UPS tracking number indicating it was delivered. UPS confirmed the delivery - for a package from Amazon to a different person at a different address.

When I complained to PayPal, they used the UPS confirmation to deny my claim. Through the PayPal online forum, I learned that this is a common practice with this company - Coverou. I wrote a letter (actual paper) to PP explaining the situation, and I included the UPS tracking info, similar incidents mentioned on their forum, and all the other materials I had accumulated. I sent copies to UPS and my credit card bank.

After a couple of weeks, I received an email from PP saying they had re-opened my case. Then I got another email saying they were giving me a refund.

The amount of money wasn't huge, but I was glad to have it refunded. I'm sure it was PP that took the loss, not Coverou, but I'm glad the system worked the way it was supposed to work.
This is a follow-up. br br I realized I was proba... (show quote)

You're probably lucky you didn't get it. Did you really want to risk injury when it collapses under you at speed. Really, $51 for a piece of junk to risk getting hurt. If you were a rock climber would you hang from a $2 rope from China?

Only when it comes to this apparent need to find a cheap bargain and then complaining that he was bilked.

I don’t think it’s a problem with “...so many Chinese companies.” It’s more like disreputable people in China taking advantage of our desire for what appear to be good deals. That’s true everywhere. Caveat emptor.

This proves the old saying, no one can be taken like someone that wants something for nothing. Why pay $51 for a bike when they would have sold you a car for $350.

I had the same thing happen with a $13 puzzle and never got the refund. Now, I place the order and if it tells me that delivery will be in 30 days or longer, I immediately cancel the order because I know it is coming from China. Glad you saw it through - wish I had now!

If a reasonable facsimile of a $51 bike had been delivered, who would trust the safety of riding it? Buy a cheap electronic device, realize it is a piece of crap, throw it away. Buy a cheap bicycle, ride it, kill yourself.

Are you finished insulting Jerry yet? Sorry that this site has to endure this type of behavior!

This is not an insult; it's a common sense comment. I've been riding bicycles all my life starting with a Monarch coaster bike and ending with a very expensive recumbent trike. The thought of a bike selling for $51 horrifies me.

What you interpret as insults were meant to point out, to Jerry and others like him, that it is more than just naive or unfair to believe in and seek out “free lunches”. Endorsement or sympathy for that sort of behavior in an adult serves no purpose. It’s being Pollyannaish.
Your sense of superiority is not warranted.
