I've been trying for a couple of weeks , got it this morning at about 4:30. wife could see it with naked eye, I had to clothe my eye in optics and electronics.200 mm

Nice catch. It's good that the comet keeps coming back every day to give us another chance to photograph it.

This is the best one I've gotten so far looking northeast. There's a great web page that shows where to look. It's what I used to home in on the comet. Took some binoculars to pinpoint it, but once my eyes adjusted to the dark, I could see it without binoculars.

Settings for this shot:
3.2 seconds
f/8
ISO 3200
WB: daylight (sunny)

That was with my Canon 7D / Canon 70-300mm IS II USM at 250mm

I autofocused on Venus, then turned off autofocus and image stabilization (since I had it on a tripod).

Very nice capture.

Good shooting here in Northern Nevada the past week. Marginally visible to the naked eye, of course. Here's my favorite image taken on the 8th around 4:45 AM. Olympus OMD-E10 MKII set to the "dreaded" Auto!

Well the "Dreaded Auto" worked pretty well. With the sky getting that bright, it's hard to get the contrast between the comet and its background. Comets love dark skies which make this one so challenging.

Has anyone been able to capture the comet that is going past the earth this month? I went out this morning, but did not get anything useful. If you have been able to take a picture, what time, which direction, and what size lens did you use? It is reported to be seen with the naked eye?? I didn't see anything with a 'tail'?? (looked NE and E from Tennessee)

This is from 3 days ago, but I've struggled with clouds and wind since then

I got these this morning here is the High Desert of Oregon. They were shot with a Sony a7iii with the Sony 150-600mm. Tripod mounted, ISO2500, manual focus, S (Tv Canon users). F6.3, and AWB. Today it was slightly lower in the sky than Venus. Venus is the brightest object in the east in the morning. It is halfway between Venus and due North. Visable to the naked eye. It was about 4:10am or about 1:30 before sunrise. The closer to sunrise it gets the harder it is to see. Shot one is cropped about 40%. Shot two has minimal PP. That way you can see what it looks like in almost real life .

600mm cropped, 4 sec
600mm cropped, 4 sec...

200mm 2.5sec no cropping
200mm 2.5sec no cropping...

All very nice. I don't know if it will be visible here in Dallas--too much light here.

A good one for sure! Thanks for the link. I like how many people have gotten the reflections in water. Here in Tn. it all depends on the sky, clouds and weather!

I caught it in the northeast sky at about 20% elevation.

Not lately but when I did it was easy.
Point and shoot.
