I carry my 5DmIV with the 100-400 with a Peak Design Slide strap and it's very comfortable.

Another vote for the Peak Design Slide strap. I just got one a couple of weeks ago for my Nikon D850, and I wish I had got this one earlier. It's great when you need it for the D850 with a long lens, but it's so easy to remove when you don't need it or want it on a tripod, etc. Probably the best design for a camera strap I've ever seen.

I have been using a Black Rapid strap and have been happy with it, it more evenly distributes the weight on my shoulder. Not clear whether you have a big lens attached? If so, does your lens have a foot that you could attach a strap to? Most of the time I attach my Black Rapid strap to the foot of the lens. This is the one I use:

Another vote for the Black Rapid strap, I use them for cameras from a Pentax K1 MKII to a Panasonic GH4.

Okay Hedgehoggers, I need some help. I just bought a Pentax K1 Mk ii with battery grip. Beautiful camera but damn it’s heavy to be hanging around my neck all day on the chinsy strap that came with it. So, please suggest a better shoulder strap option. I’ve researched a bunch and it seems like a lot of them hang by the tripod mount-hole...this doesn’t seem like a great place to suspend all that weight. Thoughts? Thanks in advance, all.

The Think Tank Pixel Racing Harness, combined with the Camera Strap, and the Camera Support Straps are a good solution; I got mine from B&H, but I couldn't find the last item on the B&H site now, so the link below for them is to the Think Tank site. I took a picture from the Think Tank site; it is attached below. I personally use them with the camera strap also around my neck, but with the weight supported by the shoulder harness. I also have the belt and a full set of pouches for my lenses and accessories and the belt makes it work better. The shoulder harness will handle two DSLRs each with a lens attached.

Black Rapid Strap screwed onto either the camera tripod plate or the tripod collar of the lens. Never had an issue. Periodic checks that the connection is secure, of course. I have a Cotton Carrier vest, but the BR strap gives me faster access.

For shooting events i.e. weddings etc. where it's run & gun I've always use a Black Rapid. There are compelling reasons why this is a fav among commercial shooters... and another reason to shoot primes or max of 3x zooms. For long glass at events a.k.a. 70-200 or 80-200 I attach the Rapid to the rotating tripod foot.

That said in the studio or on set for other commercial work I always use a wrist strip (make my own).
Neck straps are mostly for hobbyist who don't know better and end up advertising for their camera vendor...
More than one commercial shooter I assist actually tape over their camera's "brand" name. Why? it's another distraction that they want to eliminate... Smart move... Another reason I would never shoot Canon or now Sony with their ridiculous marketing ploy of "White" long glass. Black is good, no branding logos is better if you're working commercially... Experience is a brutal teacher...

However if you have a compelling need to establish your persona via your choice of kit more power to you...
Most working pros I know typically let their visual statement speak for this... Albeit there seems to be no shortage of wannabes masquerading as "Brand Ambassadors" these days...

Take a look at the Think Tank strap. I use one on mu EO 77D, a light DSLR with s heavier lens or two. It is broad, sticky on the shoulder or neck like it should be. It has quick releases and it was reasonably priced for the high quality. Unlike the rubber straps, it doesn't stretch and go all springy when you're moving.

Also a fan of Peak Design's Slide camera straps. I sometimes use the strap with one end attached to a Breakthrough Photography 60mm plate on the foot on a heavy lens and one end on the strap attachment of the camera. If one expects to have to move vigorously, it would seem that having one strap with both ends on the heavy lens and a second strap on the camera, so as to avoid sudden stresses on the lens mount, would be preferable. I use Breakthrough Photography's 40mm plates on the cameras' tripod sockets: The Breakthrough plates’ removable studs provide an additional margin of safety on the tripod. Peak Design's older style plates do fit Arca-Swiss system heads, but don't have those safety studs.
