I understand your point. The need for ventilators is overblown, meaning the number of infections is exaggerated as well; and, as Pence said yesterday, Trump did a wonderful job in controlling this national health crisis.

You forgot to add one of these to that humorous statement -

Are you opposed to wearing a face mask? I saw people at a hearing in another state giving their reasons why no one should wear a mask.

"It interferes with the beautiful breathing system that God has given us."

"Wearing a mask kills people."

It's hard to argue with reasoning like that.

Actually it does kill people.
I have a technician who works at Walmart part time.
He had a stock person die and the determining cause of death was the mask because he could not get enough fresh air.
This is not some third party internet rumor but from the person who found the dead body in the back area.
So yes, masks will kill you.

A CNN commentator suggested today that heart and/or lung damage left behind by Covid-19 might be considered a “pre-existing” medical condition.

That's a tricky situation. If insurance companies refuse to pay for treatment, that might mean that more people die from Covid, but politicians want to keep the numbers low. Actually, many politicians are already keeping the numbers low - not the actual deaths, just the number of deaths they report.

We live in a country full of idiots.

For starters, it's NOT an oxygen mask put over the mouth while the patient is comfortably lying down and reading magazines. Ventilation for Covid-19 is a painful intubation that goes down your throat and stays there until you live or you die.

Yes, ventilators are not pleasant. When my wife was in the hospital, intubation was always lurking in the background. Her doctor told her that it was very unpleasant, and it would probably not be removed until she died shortly afterwards. So it was a question of dying more miserably than necessary.

When I heard that Boris Johnson was put on a ventilator, I thought, "Well, that's it." I glad he survived the experience.

There is an excess of them and NO ONE was ever denied one in the USA ever from the beginning.
Death rate now is at 1/2 that of the annual flu.

I did not say you were lying,
I inferred that Pence was lying,

Reported cases.
CDC is now estimating, on the radio yesterday, that infections are 10x more at least than what is being reported.
Remember the WHO has been lying all along on this matter so we all know anything they put out is a total fabrication.
So you are demonstrably wrong.

It is the President who has been lying all along.
He is a prolific, polished, convincing liar; but I don’t think he can lie away this virus.
The virus is beating Trump—badly.

I really doubt if the national Covid death rate is half the annual flu death rate.
Do you have documentation?
That would mean that we typically lose over 200K to the flu annually.

Here in Indiana, we lost 121 Hoosiers to the flu this past season while we have lost twenty times as many so far to Covid, even though the state has had a "level" or "declining" rate in the past few months.

People who do not pay attention to what is happening (and who watch Fox-TV or listen to our president) frequently do not take this virus seriously. Not to mention - what is often NOT mentioned when we hear that "we are OK with available ICU beds and prepared for another surge" is that if you do end up needing ventilatory support, you are most likely going to die. Only about 1 in 8 will survive. A health official in Houston this week, when asked about their ICUs being at 85% maximum capacity, probably meant to reassure the public when he said: "we frequently reach 85% capacity". This is utter nonsense - the average patient that requires the ICU spends 3 or 4 days in the ICU. COVID patients who need ventilatory support often require two to three WEEKS on the ventilator. This is why we saw the images from New York and Italy of hallways and ERs filled with ventilator patients waiting for an ICU spot. As described by the OP, a patient on a ventilator requires massive 24-hour staff to care for them.

As for someone thinking I am a Liberal that does not even sound possible to me. I seldom use foul names here to point out anyone. for me just the term Liberal is about the worst name I could call someone/anyone. No other name could possibly be worse.

Liberal wins the competition for the worst name against such other candidates as Progressive, Socialist, Communist, Leftist, Democrat, Nazi, Fascist, Stalinist?

Doubtful. Maybe, if the person had COPD and was wearing N-95 mask.
Otherwise, no way.
Nurses and surgeons routinely wear masks for hours on end, including N-95 masks if the patient has TB, HIV, Covid-19, etc. with no ill effects. I have had to do the same.

Did the person who found the dead body also see the death certificate listing the cause of death?

Yes, doing medical Architecture I get to see a lot of interesting things and you are right.
I am doing a storage project for a hospital and in their warehouse they have 300 ventilators that have never been used.

I do agree with this sentence.
If the medical conditional calls for something, I would hope that something is immediately available.
